  • Just as the government are introducing the 'bedroom' tax, they could similarly encourage suitably qualifying firms to reorganise their workforce to take in a mandatory proportion from the unemployed. They could mitigate risk by bringing them into the base level and be rewarded for making the employment permanent.
  • Customers like us waste £s every year waiting in telephone queues. Stop this by forcing companies to pick up all charges after (say) 2 or 3 minutes.
  • Unusually amongst students, I agree with tuition fees.
However, students need some protection against universities that do not deliver the promised education.
£100 spent on car insurance, and I can complain to the financial ombudsman.
£30000 spent on a degree and I can complain to nobody.
    Students need an ombudsman.
  • Sometimes Traffic Lights are used instead of a more sensible option of a roundabout, traffic lights cost money and cause confusion and traffic problems when broken. Sometimes even more ridiculously Traffic Lights are used on round abouts and function 24 hours. This is Quite often unnecessary and obviously costly!

In this country we have a saying "Do the crime, do the time", but once the "time" is complete should we continue to punish?.... a lot of people with convictions can not get work and end up on benefits costing the tax payer money. Some offences are more severe than others, but a lot of convictions are for minor offences. Should minor offenders have their slate cleaned after their FIRST offence, to give them the opportunity to gain employment, pay taxes and contribute to our economy rather than costing it? We all make mistakes - should we as the taxpayer have to pay for those mistakes forever?
  • As suggested by a preeminent economist in the not too distant past. Place a 0.06% tax fee on all monies deposited into bank accounts across the UK. Do away with the complexities of the tax codes. This applies to ALL accounts. Do the Maths! This shares the burdens.:A

This should help reduction in costs of alternate energy sources (offshore windfarms, wave power, etc.), carbon emissions and, of course, ever-increasing energy bills.
  • Only pay child benefit for up to two children .. if you want to have more than two then you will know you have to save and make your money go further ! would make people think twice about having 6 or 7 kids !
  • Abolish ticket transactions charges.
Typically theatres charge a fee of 5% or a flat rate of between 50p and £1 per ticket for groups.
