  • The time has come to get tough on wasteful spending. We don't need anymore mouths to feed so we should shut our borders and clamp down on benefits, if there aren't so many cheap to employ foreigners then the unemployment figures would improve overnight, thus reducing benefits paid to support nationals and foreigners too! The NHS should charge all visitors at time of treatment as they do in other countries and not allow health tourists :-)
  • Why when it is illegal not to have car insurance does the government oblige people to use private companies? The only other time people can be prosecuted for not paying a private(ish) organisation is if they don't have a TV licence. Surely there must be money to be made even if using state sponsored car insurance was only an option.
  • Large organisations complicate products and ways of getting redress to make money, and force changes through new charges. The elderly/children/disabled are 'vulnerable' to such tactics, so there should be a statutory requirement to ensure special options & leniency.
  • Force phone companies to record and automatically block lines & numbers that send these messages. Its technically easily do-able for UK originated messages. Not possible with foreign sources.
  • Caller Line ID enables caller number display but some phone companies charge extra for this. This is now a standard part of phone system provision and doesn't cost extra to provide, so its ridiculous there is an extra charge for it.
  • Make a National Register of any Public/Civil Servant or anyone paid from the Public Purse who earns more than the PM declaring how much incl pension etc they earn AND stating reasons WHY they earn/deserve it.
  • Politicians and the BBC etc must never use the words "Government Money", they must state the truth of the matter i.e. Tax Payer's Money!
  • Anyone earning more than the PM who is paid from the public purse must take a 25% pay cut scaled in over the next three years or serve 6 months notice and leave without any "golden goodbye".
  • Zero VAT on clothes is not determined by whether the item is for a child, it is based on the size of the item. Hence a larger child starts incurring VAT on their clothes at an earlier age. Shoes are a good example. VAT can be incurred on a child's clothes as early as age 12.
(So it is not true to say that children's clothes are free of VAT).
A zero net effect revenue change to pay the extra revenue (resulting from the abolition of zero VAT on children's clothes) as extra child benefit would 1. ensure that all children are treated equally and 2. be fairer to less well-off families who utilise re-cycled clothes and don't spend large amounts on designer clothes for children 3. remove a complexification from VAT administration.

But is there a politician brave enough to abolish zero VAT on children's clothes?
  • Benefit claimants often say they would earn less by working. Give all those fit for work a job, any job. The difference is made up by the state to what they were on before. Refusing a job, leaving, or getting sacked stops all benefits. The state saves the difference.
