  • 0845 phone calls to government run departments should not be at a high rate especially the likes of DWP, tax, NHS etc.
  • Printing is an expensive and wasteful (world resources) Buy every government official an e-reader, secure the content from accidental loss and purposeful attack. Send everything in e-ink. If they break or loose the e-reader make them pay a fine.

Stop 1 days pay per person per year for Charity with no opt outs, but the money raised to be spent in THIS country along with the usual charitable cash spent so we are not penalised by a reduction in the usual funding and that being spent abroad.
  • Link all hire purchase on one system so that a potential provider can check if someone can afford an item, the hirer will be unable to spend more than a certain percentage on repayments. A system used in Holland with excellent results.
  • The 70% clubwould identify appropriate occupations and provide training to enable peoplewho suffer with depression but are otherwise very capable the opportunity to earna decent salary but with no fixed need to work at certain number of hours overa set period.
  • Make sure that benefits are only used for food, clothes, shoes, utilities etc by using a token scheme so alcohol and ciggies cannot be bought in shops.
  • Firstly, I'd alter mortgage payments from monthly to fortnightly. This would enable home buyers to pay off their mortgages more quickly. 25 years to pay off a home loan sounds like modern day slavery to me.

Secondly I'd include third party insurance with every MOT. Yes, it would cost more than £50 but it would go a long way towards stopping uninsured drivers costing us all a packet in premiums etc.

Both of these suggestions would need a measure of political will as the banks and insurance industry are unlikely to take up the cudgel on our behalves!

Most if not all other European countries have a National Identity Card. This eliminates the need for a passport for travel within the EU, which is still necessary for all Brits travelling to countries other than Ireland. It would have to be as secure as a passport, but if universal could also be used whenever proof of identity is required, such as for applications to banks etc. These are particularly difficult now for people without passports, driving licences or utility bills, for example many older generation wives and the generally less well off.
Today's advanced technology could surely be used to incorporate other data also, to make everyday life's hurdles much simpler to negotiate - the possibilities are endless.
  • Please let us purchase Premium Bonds in smaller quantities, £25 would be a good minimum, so they can be used as gifts or regular savings.
  • I really appreciate that we have free in credit personal current accounts in UK and I do not think the majority of us fully appreciate this fact.(until it is gone)

Hopefully we can keep free personal banking over the coming years?

It would not take much for the big banks to get together to start charging us (as with majority of the EEC).

Very sorry to be honest but those who deliberately go overdrawn or go over their overdraft limit, then claim back banking charges, fines, etc - or mismanage their personal accounts in other ways will be partly responsible and no doubt the rest of us who are good money managers will suffer !!!
