Government should legislate that police can sell off untaxed vehicles in their compound instead of scrapping or disposing them. A lot of these cars are in perfectly good condition. They should be sold to boost income for the police.

Make Public Transport Annual Season Tickets Available For All
Commuters should be able to pay for their annual season ticket monthly via direct debit. Mobile phone providers manage to achieve this through contracts, so should train, bus and tram providers. The current system penalises those who can't afford the large outlay once per year through higher fares for shorter tickets.
  • How much energy/money is wasted sending out pre-addressed reply envelopes with correspondence, they are rarely used and just thrown away. Get companies to stop this wasteful practice or organise "envelope bank" to repatriate all envelopes to senders. Have saved 12 months worth, any suggestions.

Put some rubbish paper in them and then pop them into the post box. When the senders realise what it's costing them, they may stop. the only bad thing about it is that without the income from this mail, the Post Office may??? increase the cost of postage.

Most road signs (where there seems to be so manyfor so little benefit) should be removed. A generalreduction in signs (and probably traffic lights) would be appreciated. I believe in the Netherlands this has workedto good effect.

I would reduce the speed limit around schools and churchesto 20mph, and increase the limits on dual carriageways to 80mph and onmotorways to 85mph. I would introduceminimum speed limits on the outside lanes of dual carriageways and motorways to60mph.

  • Add car tax to petrol and diesel and then you will be charged for the amount you drive, if you don't drive much, you don't pay much, and big engines cost more as they use more. foreign cars and lorries using our roads will pay for the miles they drive, and it does away with the whole car tax department.

Introduce on the spot fines for minor traffic offences eg£100 for being up to 25% over the speed limit up to 50mph and up to 20% above50mph, without having points added to your licence. It seems that insurers increase premiumsdisproportionately after a minor motoring offence

While I am certain the 3 years at University are enjoyablefor most people I would reduce the academic portion to 2 years with moreemphasis on work and use the third year for more practical experience
