Just made the switch to M & S, will update how it goes.
So about 6-7 weeks to finally get the activation code. Bit dissapointed about the lack of updates and info during that period. Recieved a single letter from M+S last week to say I would soon be recieving the activation code, but nothing before that at all.
Only problem now is when I log in I am not prompted to enter that activation code, neither on the M+S website or the SSE Website
I tried linking the accounts to the account numbers on the letter, but they were appearing as unrecognised.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -
I switched on Monday via the Cheap Energy Club, took 5 weeks, so not bad really
I received my welcome letter and request for meter readings last Friday, phoned and left them on the automated service.
Monday got a welcome text requesting meter reads?!
Phoned customer services and they had no record of my meter reads so the chap took them there and then. Online account has now updated allowing me to leave reads online.
I haven't however received my vouchers for joining yet
I feel another phone call needed.0 -

You say you switched via the Cheap energy club. I joined that last week and put my details in. M & S was suggested but it said that there was no direct link to M & S so users needed to do it via their website.
Things must have changed recently then. I initiated my switch to M&S energy through the cheap energy club on 27th September, just before the fixed Sep 2014 tariff was withdrawn.
All seems to be going smoothly, if a bit slow. I'm hoping my new tariff will be active in the next week or so.0 -

I have now requested a switch via the M & S Energy site. I have been told that it should only take about 14 days as I am already with Atlantic (SSE). I will wait and see if that is correct. I have their 1 year fix (until Dec 2014). It saves me about £90 on Atlantic's increases.0 -
ok, so not going as smoothly as I would have hoped.
Finally got through after 10 minutes on hold only to be told I had recieved the letters too early and my transfer doesn't actually happen until 11th November, although that is not mentioned on any correspondance I have from them.
They stated there was a big demand for the deal in September, which they have now removed and that is the reason for the long delays.
So I now have to keep waiting, will probably make the whole thing about 9 weeks, which seems alow to me.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -
I signed up on 21st Sept via TCB. 10 days later I got a welcome pack, about a week after that I got my account numbers, yesterday I got confirmation of my DD and today I got a letter saying that my transfer date is the 29th and to send off my meter readings or phone them through. I know a lot of people have had trouble with getting their reading through so I thought I'd phone them through but am unsure which would be the best phone number, what number did others find was best?0

Why does it take over 2 months to switch a supply? It only takes them a matter of days to introduce a price rise.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0

I'm currently in the process of switching from Eon to M&S Energy/Southern Electric and whilst I appreciate the backlog its starting to get frustrating after applying over 6 weeks ago.
I don't remember my move to Eon 3 years ago being this drawn out. What I object to is being stuck on Eon's standard rate for ever and a day waiting for the switch to happen thereby negating some of the savings I was hoping to make.
My main gripe is I haven't got a scooby doo when this change is actually going to take effect, I am massively in credit with Eon even taking into account the build up for the winter period and i'm concerned that at some stage simultaneous direct debits will be taken.
The web site situation is totally confusing, which do I use, M&S Energy or Southern Electric, both say not much and appear to be very un user friendly compared to EON's.
I have had an activation code to use the web site, I have submitted meter readings by text, and I was told 2 weeks ago by an operator from Soutern Electric that my switch date was 27 October. However, as far as I can tell nothing has happened.
Would appreciate any clarification from someone who has successfully been through the switch as to when I know for sure it has been completed.0 -

Completely agree, the clarity and correspondance leaves a lot to be desired. Not the kind of start I was hoping for.
I too am in generous credit with my current supplier, but was moved to the standard rate when my deal ended in Spetember, so I am stuck paying the higher rate until these guys actually pull their finger out.
I applied on the 8th September and still have even had my meter readings requested.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0
