You can but boning and skinning it are the easy parts.
Boning it, after you've gutted it, place it facing downwards opened up, sort of like a butterfly and run your thumbs very firmly down it's spine 3 or 4 times.
Turn it over and the backbone and large bones should come out fairly easily. You may need to take a pair of tweezers to the odd few.
To skin it, place it skin side down and wiggle a knife between the flesh and the skin starting at the tail end. Dust your fingers with salt and take a firm grip of the skin and start pushing the knife upwards whilst pulling down at the skin.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Judi wrote:Yes Tiff i am here, please dont blame me for the moved posts. I received a complaint yesterday about several of the posts made in the OldStyle board. It was suggested to me that they didnt find the board welcoming and was a 'board within itself'. There were several posts that were suggested as being suitable elsewhere. So i moved them. I am not saying i agreed, but i moved them anyway.
Who would want to complain about Old Style? I have posted many times on the other boards about how friendly and welcoming everyone on the Old Style board is. I used to find the Arms really scary - as there seemed to be a lot of 'insider' jokes going on, and I hasten to add my perception has now changed before I get shouted at.
From the first moment I posted on here, I immediately received several welcoming replies, and I loved wading through all the chatty and informative posts. I can honestly say, out of all the boards, Old Style is IMHO the most informative and welcoming of them all - and although I am not a regular poster - I am a regular reader.
And I have to say, I was surprised to see Queenies post in the arms yesterday and also the warning that once again the post was going off topic half way through.
All I would like to say is Well Done all you 'Ol Style' regulars for making this boards one of the best.

I was wondering if the title on Moneysaving Old Style is a bit misleading since wartime recipes don't come up all that often and I think we've done vinegar to death

How about returning to the classroom and calling it Home Economics or Domestic Science? That would be a good general description of all those hints on shoe polish and getting sick out of sofas.
I would like to see a sub-board (daughter board or whatever it's called) just for cooking. I know we've got sticky threads etc but it would be easier if all cooking went in the same forum. It's such a popular topic I reckon it justifies a forum all of its own.
Just an opinion, honestly I'll just potter along with whatever's on offer.0 -

Mr TM once accepted the *kind* offer of a duck my BIL had shot one Sunday! I walked into the garage to find "an ex-duck" staring up at me.
I made Mr TM deal with it - he took the breasts off which I promptly froze. They are still lurking in the depths of the freezer. (Gulp)0 -

No, no I won't have that - there's more life in Vinegar posts - I'm sure we haven't discovered half its uses yet.
