I'm going to stick my two-pennarth in here - I did post a reply earlier but it aint there
I like this board and am also surprised that it has been seen as unwelcoming. I haven't been here too long, but as long as you bring your own mug/glass of wine, then it seems everyone's welcome and we're always happy to help a newbie or grateful for new tips or points of view. I used to post regularly in The Arms and I found it OK, but I did find it daunting at first - it is more clique-y than here IMO.
This is my home now - I stay off the shopping boards as much as I can - I find my biggest money-saving tip is not to buy anything at the moment. I either don't need it, or more recently, can't afford it. I just dip in when I do need something. Also, my house is coming down with Boots items and freebie shower gels
Maybe catch you all later, for a pre-prandial apperatif - or maybe we should all go to The Arms for that one0 -
Nile - why are you out of the sand-pit? Does Miss know?0

Now that is definately off topic, not that I'm objecting but........these fetishes are more akin to the Arm's "I like Spots...." thread IMHO:D
Whilst off topic, Austin "Toe Fluff" Allegro? Toe Fluff? Actually, don't worry, I expect it's hidden meaning is within the depths of a sock thread somewhere

I have recently been making a concious effort to welcome new commers, not because of this comment but because I now feel sufficently well grounded to be able to offer advice occasionally instead of always asking for it. Recently I have recognized at least 3 posters from another forum I used to frequent but left after being flamed once too often (funny expression, "Flamed", who orignally coined it in the modern telling-off way?), I sincerely hope we don't come accross as unwelcoming even if we all do digress too much:eek: .
Anyway, I also think Back to Basics would be a more appropriate forum title but don't necessarily think Old Style is inappropriate anyway & is everyone still wearing their safety pins 'cos I have finally found one but fear I might have missed the boat?
Cheers All

Queenie, I'm not worried about the squeezy bottles, just what's in them
Just want to add (to everyone) that when I first posted on this site, the Arms seemed a bit daunting, but when I started posting there everyone was really friendly and you soon realise that there are no cliques, just a load of loons having a larf :beer:Bulletproof0 -

Yes a load of loons having a larf, except when we're concentrating in the remedial class and trying to answer the 'A' Level questions.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. The first time I came on the message boards and looked down the long list of boards, the first one that caught my attention was Money Saving Old style. I like the title and wouldn't want it to change. As other people have said, if you want old style answers you post on here because you know you're going to get back to basics, environmentally friendly answers.
As a newbie, I've found it really friendly here and some of the posts are hilarious. I go on other boards too but haven't ventured into The Arms purely because I don't like pubs!0
