So you don't have home insurance? bank suggests it and you say you don't need it - You get burgalled a week later, are you still sure you don't need it?
Ohh - lets think - the property I live in already has home insurance from the person who owns it... why would I need to buy separate insurance myself? :rolleyes:Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
If the bank doesn't give you any advice and you had £40k in a current account then you would be losing out on lots of interest.....So a savings account would be more benficial than if they'd left you to your own devices.
And, typically, a savings account with a different bank would be more beneficial than one at that bank - would a 'review' point this out?
Thought not.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Utter tosh, if the bank really had the customers interest at heart, they would need to advise of alternatives to their own suppliers, which of course they do not.
It is all about making the banks richer, dressed up as an " Account Review " you know that, I know that.
It's a bit of both - the Bank will probably want to make sure the customer is aware of the best deal the Bank can offer (especially if it is to keep a customer's savings or loan with them) so will tell them the best they can offer as they may be aware of customers shopping around. Likewise, supermarkets advertise their special deals to tell customers of things they may benefit from (no-one in Tesco's has yet offered me a 'shopping review' yet though:rolleyes: )Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -

Why should a bank have a duty to promote its competitor's products? And since when would a "better" competing product preclude someone from marketing their own version? My favoured analogy for this is supermarkets: Sainsbury's is usually more expensive than Tesco, does that mean Sainos shouldn't promote products in-store?0 -
There are lots of suggestions we do make to customers about time saving/money saving /better return but a lot of customers don't like change .
An account review however is not about the above but is to get the customer to take more products with the company.
Re mis-selling in branches and not call centres ...it can happen anywhere where it is not actively discouraged and backed up with thorough checks.
I do like my job and (most of) my customers but would like it much more if the pressure from the sales culture was less.
As you get older (and wiser I hope) you realise that you are also a 'sales target' in other places that you go to and you get to spot the person dealing with you slip into sales mode .I can't stand it when it's me on the end of it and to be honest at work you'll not find me pushing sales as if my life depended on it.0 -
The reason the queues are sometimes so long is because people don't listen ie pay by D/D instead of coming to the bank every month. Or people that come in on a weekly basis to check a balance/withdraw £50 - why not us the ATM?
The reason that there are queues is because the bank do not employ enough staff. end of.
Whilst you may not be happy to have to serve customers, it is their choice of how they pay, get information.
Remember, these nuisance customers keep you in a job.:rolleyes:0 -

The point that you are missing is people choose to go to a supermarket to buy a product, they are not conned in by a sales pitch, under a deceitful pretext.
Banks are predominantly for the purpose of banking, or they should be IMO, not second rate insurance brokers etc.0 -
Well as it has already been mentioned a bank is still a business, and as I stated in a previous post: If the bank doesn't give you any advice and you had £40k in a current account then you would be losing out on lots of interest.....So a savings account would be more benficial than if they'd left you to your own devices.
Ah, but we all know that, that isn't what it is all about, don't we?
It is all about flogging stuff, as some of the more honest bank staff on here have at least had the decency to admit to.0 -
