Great 'Work in a bank? What should we know' Hunt

  • We had a 'review' a few months ago.
The guy was really pleasant (HSBC) and was able to offer really good advice.
The outcome was we 'shuffled' a few things, and are now £175 a month better off.

I think sometimes we feel that everyone in that industry is out to get us in one way or another, but I believe tthe bank wants the best for it's customers, who then in turn will give good feedback to others.

    JMI!

Primarily reviews are about getting customers to take more products.
Each appointment is scrutinised and every sales opportunity is noted and staff are questioned after the appointment as to why they did not get a particular sale.

Some of the 'opportunities' that are flagged up by the management at my branch beggar belief , trust me not one single appointment escapes this treatment no matter why it is booked and what for .
The staff hate working this way , the pressure has just increased over the years for sales .

Would that be a " real " £175 a month? ..or what HSBC told you?

Your finances must have been in a serious mess if they actually saved you £175 a month.

I appreciate your honesty, I don't blame the staff, ( apart from those that try to defend this activity ) I blame the system.

Does this include the ones conducted by the branch manager? (Rural branch of LTSB where I lived just over a year ago.)
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • hi, i have a platinum account with lloyds tsb and use all the extra insurances etc.. previously we have been able to switch from the family travel insurance to winter sports insurance with no extra cost. last year for the first time,we had to pay £22 to add our son (account holder only is insured) but this year they want £50. someone on another thread said to upgrade to the premier account pay the £25 account charge and then down grade a month later.( therefore i will only pay £8)
i guess my question is can i do that?
i dont mind paying for my son to be added if it is legit but not if they dont have to charge me that.

Can't speak for LTSB but I would imagine so (certainly would be if you saw manager at my branch)

    It's all about sales .

I think that the way these Customer Service Reviews are handled within branch, might have something to do with why there is negativity surrounding these reviews.

It's not fair, nor right, to tar everyone/branch/bank with the same brush though.
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

Yes I would, I don't buy my insurance based solely on cost, I buy it on value for money and company reputation, I do not need any bank to tell me what is best for me simply because they get a big pay back from the insurer.

You sound like someone who won't take advice from anyone whether it would benefit you or not.....beacuse you have too much pride?

Would you buy insurance if you didn't need it? I know from past reviews that they try to flog me stuff I don't actually need.

So you don't have home insurance? bank suggests it and you say you don't need it - You get burgalled a week later, are you still sure you don't need it?
