the grin and bear it generation, are also very good at rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in to clean your house ready for sale/letting. Especially if combined with a weekend return of the prodigal son, who they can tell off the whole time.:rotfl:especially as they've been telling you its a millstone for years, so they were right all along:rotfl:I can imagine the whole thing! Maybe one for when your feeling a bit stronger ha ha.

40+, I'm delurking to say great job so far :T
Try sending a letter to vodaphone explaining that you sent them written instruction in xx month/year to close your account, and could they please advise why this hasn't been done. Put a note in your calendar for two weeks' time to chase if you haven't had a reply. Then you can forget about it for now
That way you have it all in writing (make yourself a special folder on your computer for 'sorting out stuff'), and you don't have to give it space in your head.

Made it out and signed up with Docs. I have to go for MOT first next Wednesday then will book to see about depression has good reviews on the net, bit of a trek to get to but not impossible. Feel exhausted & a bit down now not sure why and in need of a cuppa tea but that fact I made it is a major step forward. Been thinking about the flat and trying not to think about it! Kicking myself didn't sort this out earlier but am preparing for the worst.. sorry, trying to be positive although it doesn't come across as that.

Thanks LannieDuck for the support without this forums support I very much doubt I would be would be where I am today. As you say one thing at a time and I am going to attempt to contact Vodaphone tomorrow, hopefully! Part of the problem is I contacted them some time ago and need to find the original letter, but even just getting it cancelled will be a win.

Yes Vodaphone, has been a long running dd that I tried to cancel and they just keep taking the money.. I wasn't sure how to stop as they said I couldn't just cancel dd and had to give them written notice.. but when I did they didn't cancel it. Been running for years but haven't known what to do with it.. The other mobile is for my 02 which I am currently using, well will be when I can pay the bill.
Ok, time to get up, cuppa tea and face the day
Wish you all a happy one.
Tom

Hello Lee,
Thank you for your reply. I found the form to fill in but I have a problem in that I can't remember the phone number and all my bills go to the house up north so can't get at it easily. Can I put a made up number and you can help me find it or If I can contact you somehow off thread to give you all the details I can would that be possible?
Regards

The day of eviction notice has arrived, not slept well last night, but have emailed older brother and told about current situation with money and depression, he has been very understanding and surprised about this revelation saying I kept it hidden well. Well yeah I'm not going to run round wailing woe is me, I'm so depressed all the time! Youngest bruv is coming to stay tonight so going to talk to him too..
Got my StepChange app this afternoon, so a positive step forward. Just need to find out some info beforehand which I meant to do yesterday..
Still wrestling with what to do with the house, but will have a better idea once debt plan is known, just feel with current problems and credit it rating it maybe better to keep and rent out, although I have been resisting/avoiding doing this..
Anyway trying to keep myself up for today as last few days have been a bit black.. Although reading some of the stories on other sections have been very uplifting, just trying not to swamp myself with all of it. Also been looking at the little things like selling old mobile phones and stuff and am going to go thorough all my boxes, which have never really been unpacked after moving in a year ago!
So with the noise of the trains starting to rumble by I better start psyching up for work, only to fall asleep and walk up 5 mins before I should be at work!

Hi LittleMissGiggles123, In all honesty I can't remember
they were set up when I brought the house, one is life cover but I need to find out what the others are.. The 'Other' is income protection, and need to bin it as don't think they pay out as reading around seems they are pretty worthless. Oops yes made an error with buidings insurance! will edit
OK, I'm a newbie as well, so others may well correct my advice...
Life insurance is unnecessary, and you can cancel it. If you die without having it, your estate will need to pay the debt to the bank, but with no dependants that isn't really a problem. You may find that you can also get rid of contents insurance too, or strip it right back to a bare minimum level of coverage.
I wonder if you also have a mis-selling claim about the income protection insurance - if you were contracting when you bought the house, HSBC shouldn't have sold you an insurance which doesn't provide the cover you need. It is the same principle as PPI.0
