To be honest, I can't remember the last time i watched TV, Yet still manage to watch all the latest programmes online. If you have a HDMI cable and a port on your tv, you can stream anything you watch straight to your TV as i do!0

Hi 40+ You're doing really well and have achieved a lot already. Well done.
I hope VP are refunding you a load of the money they have taken all this time?
I too think that you may well have been mis-sold insurance on your loan and iphone.
Thoughts on selling your Yorks property.
I would say don't. If you rent it out you will have some income and still have the asset to sell for a deposit in London or to transfer the mortgage to a London property. ( Getting another mortgage now or in the next 6 years or so will not be easy due to your credit score being bad at the moment.)
The advice to sell would allow you to repay debt but might not be the best thing for you, although it is the easiest way for your creditors to be paid & for the immediate debt issue to be sorted .
It seems that you have only found things hard to sort out because you've been unwell and things have become complicated and overwhelming. You have sorted out a huge amount in the last few days and in a couple of months everything will seem much clearer. The rental income will help and the CT and other bills will be the responsibility of the tenant. Your debts are not that huge and once you have your budget going properly you'll have a better idea of what will be affordable. Hi Verbatim, thx for the reply and I wanted to respond to you mail once I had time to consider it.
Vodaphone said they couldn't offer me any refund as they sent out a letter with PAC code which they never received a reply and I never got and because I never followed up no £1500ish payout but am saving 38quid a month from yesterday
I am going to look into insurances and am now thinking about PPI claim(s) having ready info on here but it is so long ago. Just dealing with the immediate stuff at the moment.Thoughts on selling your Yorks property.

This is kind of what I thought and in conversation with StepChange they thought this was best way to clear debts and arrears. However I was unsure although I did say that's what I was going to do. But in the back of my mind I thought that it would be much harder if not impossible to get back on property ladder once sold and ultimately I really want my own space again. The advice to sell would allow you to repay debt but might not be the best thing for you, although it is the easiest way for your creditors to be paid & for the immediate debt issue to be sorted .

I think I need to go back to SC on Monday and have another chat with them as I am starting to realise that the house is an assist that I won't easily replace if I sell as will have to save for deposit etc for a flat down here. The only stumbling block at the moment is the cost of getting it into a state of being able to rent. But I can build a plan on whats needed and go from there. Like you say now budget is sorted I can make savings and I have decided to move out of flat and look for a room in shared house as £1125 just for flat is 3x my mortgage! and the savings will help to pay for renovations with house. More spreadsheets needed!!
Once again thanks for helping think through.
Regards

Hi Tom
I've just spent the last half hour reading your thread and it sounds like you are making some great progress! The one thing that is screaming at me the most is that you really need to prioritise going to the doctors to help with the anxiety and depression. I know it's scary as hell and that it takes a lot of willpower to walk through those doors and ask for help, but believe me it is the most important thing you can do to turn your situation around. Once you feel the weight lifted from your shoulders and are able to function properly, you'll be able to get everything straight in your head. You are doing so well already and you don't want the darkness sucking you back under. I'm going to be subscribing to this thread as I'm looking forward to watching you sort this out and getting debt and depression free.

Hello NikkeiPositivity and Thx for taking the time to read my ramblings!

Yes I have an appointment on Wed afternoon and as the day gets nearer I am getting more nervous.. but.. I want to and am going to fight this as it has been taking over my life for way too long! I know this will take time but I have had a couple of glimpses of feeling better and how I want to in the last couple of weeks. So stay tuned to the wacky world of Tom and his wobbly rise out of debt and depression

HI,
Good job. Vodaphone sorted and cross off list so it goes out of your head. Next concentrate on the insurances, getting them stopped or reduced, worry about ppi later.
About renting out York's house. We rent a run down property at a reduced rent to save us money. It has heating and all that but it is seriously in need of bathrooms, kitchen and wallpaper of this century. Like I said, we have rented for 2 years like this so we can save, I have made the garden better and painted the hall a bit, landlord said he didn't care what I did. Can you see if that would work for a while?0
