Oh well done 40+. It's great to have a brother like yours to help out when most needed. How dare the HSBC guy demand to know medical details! If it isn't too much strain on you, (and you have more urgent stuff to deal with of course), a letter of complaint would be in order.
Here's hoping the worst is now confronted and you have a clear path in view to the sunny uplands! GL with finding a job in Oxford and somewhere to live too.

Thx Verbatim, though without my bruv I know I wouldn't have got this far and I will do anything for him :) He said about complaining but I just want to get away from them now and conflict is not high on my agenda. I am yoyoing about leaving London but it is the best thing and I am not far away! :)

Well done 40+. I'm so pleased you've got yourself back on track. And what a good job your brother has done.

I'm sure that once things are under control a bit more, you'll start to feel more relaxed and able to cope.

Thx LannieDuck, I did wonder if things would get better and they have done, not every day is started with feeling unable to cope :)
Have just read some of your thread and wanted to wish you well on your DFW journey, it sounds like you have really made some good progress with it recently.

    I know exactly what you mean about the bulldogs they use for {snip}

I just dont know what these banks want from us. Oh yes I do... its blood isnt it.

How true!! and they have had good money out of me for the last 20 years or more! anyway and breath!! ;) I am now putting together a plan to sell the house and move on. I know my credit rating will be shot but I need to stop haemorrhaging money and I may be able to buy somewhere in a couple of years or so, just need a fresh start now..

    Hey 40+

I caught up with your thread a couple of nights ago and some things really struck a chord with me so I wanted to pop in and wish you well. You sound like you've got lots of support from your brother and a plan to go forwards which is wonderful.

I love this quote, its so positive and it was great to read that you're feeling almost human again :D

I know about depression having suffered from it as a result of losing the 'safety blanket' of a 16-year job after the firm relocated to France.
The best thing I did was to be referred to a mental health charity called 'Rethink: health in mind' who ran a course called 'Building self esteem'. Worked a treat as all 23 of us on the course were there for the same reason.

We basically used the coffee break as a 'self help' period.

Ok just when I thought it was safe to go back into the water, I get another kick in the nads. Turning into a real soap opera here. To anyone still listening at the back :) short story is, got booted out of Oxford and had to move all stuff out in a day as Brothers marriage blew up last weekend in spectacular fashion and I was made out to be the fall guy. How I can have wreaked there marriage in 8 weeks is a bit of a mystery but...

So I had to take two weeks off work and have had to temporarily stay with parents which has been difficult at times. Things are really up in the air at the moment but I am making a bit of progress. I have decided to sell the house as I just can't face having to deal with the pressure and stress of it I know others have said to keep it but I have thought long and hard about it and want to be debt free and able to breath again. I have now contacted 3 Estate Agents and am going to see them in the next couple of days. Unfortunately it is in a bit of a mess having not been lived in for an extended period, but I am prepared to take a lesser amount but know how the EA work though. Head spinning from other stuff I need to get on top of as I have let slip as trying to cope with "other stuff" Anyway this seems like a long and winding road!!! but one step at a time. I think I am going to try and find docs no matter what as I'm starting to feel I might sink again but keeping a brave face on for the moment.. :) Will try to get some sleep tonight as long and stressful day tomorrow.
    Night all..

Been to house collected mail, took 2 hours just sort in to piles and bin junk. Brought back for opening tomorrow. electric meter disconnected as Meter Plus turned up with lock smith to change to token meter, but told them I was selling house and they accepted not to change after a long conversation with HQ, but have rather large bill to pay due to not realising that it was not being paid.

Talked to first estate agents and they recommend auctioning it with a reserve price am going to me two more EA today and try and get some stuff to tip and am trying to organise another visit next weekend or week after to empty house. Two more to see today and need to find a solicitors to do legal "stuff"

There seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel which is not an on coming train! :) Just focusing on 3 tasks a day at the moment and when is the weather going to change for some sun! as all I can think is this

Well done for heading in the right direction. I was going to reply to your previous post, but don't know much about selling houses, so thought I'd leave it up to someone else to... oh well :P

You sound positive atm. I really hope the house sale is relatively smooth and gives you a chance to get back on your feet again. Get all of this behind you and your debts cleared, and all that stress lifted. Good luck.

I know my fault but might get some back for that.

Did you have PPI on the mortgage ?. If so and you haven't claimed on it, then you might be able to do a PPI reclaim to get some cash back.
