Been struggling to write this as my head is all foggy and not feeling too brill but..

Had my appt with StepChange and have a budget but am feeling confused. I am going to take a couple of days to go through the budget plan and get straight in my head as it all made sense before. I have the template letters to write to the creditors but I have to ring up a number of agencies and companies and am trying to build up strength to do this especially for HSBC who are ringing me multiple times a day now. However the plan and advice is to sell the house and clear all outstanding debt which is what I will be telling creditors and hopefully I can get this done in the next 6 months although others have said no keep it you will never get back on property ladder with bad credit history? Any thoughts on that.

I have decided to move out and look for a rented room though the thought of sharing  me having had my own places for so long but as councillor said my rent is very high (just breathing in London is expensive!) and I should think about downsizing.

Anyway sorry for ramble just trying to clear the mind and focus on the small steps. Now I need to find some change for stamps! :)

P.S Lee I will respond later to you via form thanks for your assistance though!

To ensure that it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line and once our automated reply arrives update the thread with your email reference number and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

Hi Lee managed to get it to work..

Feeling a bit overwhelmed again and nothing making sense, lack of sleep not helping but maybe I can get help from docs when I see them next week.

Haven't managed to send any letters yet, and still no sign of app form from Co-op for account. Cash is going to be really tight next week but have bus ticket so at least don't have to walk to work yet :)
Just seen first class stamp 60p! so may have to send in batches..

    Use 2nd class stamps ;)

Set yourself one main job to get done today - do your letters. You have a template, so it shouldn't be too bad.

  • I might be wrong but I never saw anything in your SOA that was overspending or underlying money problems. you seem to work hard put it in the bank and then not know that companies are taking it off you. for years. So in six months time you will have learnt a lot and be able to be confident about your financial future. And you will have become a financial expert. But from your starting point that will be a steep learning curve and so will feel overwhelming sometimes. Are any of your brothers good at budgeting? could they hold your hand with your plan whilst you find your feet.
but it started today, because you consciously realised the price of a stamp. And yes second class lol.

you did a tick list the other day and achieved masses, and you are an IT boffin. so what works for you? can you design a spreadsheet thingy or a list of steps to take, to remove it from your head. and as small a step as you need. So as Lannie says, todays job is to write your letters, find or re use envelopes, and get down the back of your settee and all coat pockets, under the bed to find loose change for a book of stamps. Physical action often helps a tired head. Tomorrows job is either to post them, or think of a way to raise a fiver if you dont find anything today.

but you only get one head so look after it. The head comes first.

    Hi bess1234

Thanks for you reply :) Yes having looked at my finances I realise how much money I am wasting! might as we'll buy a car and drive through the streets hurling it out of the window :D Also think stamps were a penny last time I brought one:T:rotfl:

Ok, so managed to get myself out of bed before the sun went down and went to open account with coop, nice young lady opened there and then after check my details. Then tried to sell me insurance, which as refused in anyway shape or form and recommended I contact Experian. Probs down to CC and missed payments from HSBC but should have account set up in 7-10 days so just got to hold out till then..

Am printing out letters from StepChange as I type and will post those Monday next week. Found some change down back of draws in bedroom that will pay for some of the stamps and when I get home tonight I am going to start sorting the sell/charity/keep piles as need to rationalise before moving. I am going to go North next week and pick up mail and sort some other things out. Need to contact East Yorks about arrears as my be able to claim something for it being empty, we'll see. Also nice to get away for a couple of days. In fact work is encouraging me to take time off :) think they might be wise to my moods but being really supportive.

Still feel as though I didn't get my plan completely sorted with SC so going to go through it again and ring Monday.

Wish to thank Lee for helping close my Vodaphone contract, unfortunately my fault for not sorting out earlier and saving a pot of money.. but many thanks Lee! and kudos to VP for helping people on here or maybe I am a special case!

Finally sorry of the verbal diarrhoea things have seemed very black over last few days but it really helps to write this down and to know someone is reading even if not replying. I was always too shy/embarrassed to tell me friends that had depression and covered it well most of the time.. but now have the bit between my teeth. Will start posting else where to stop this becoming a bit of an epic..

Anyhoo, onwards and upwards n thanks for the support
