well they are part to why megaupload was taken down, people think it was just copyright infringement and the wiki report shows his criminal record.

Kim Dotcom is a criminal know to the police and had megaupload taken down due to copyright infringments, money laundering and racketeering which lost many genuine users their files etc, then he decides to set up anyone site similar to megaupload and hosted offshore where offshore hosts dont give 2 hoots what is hosted.

so you want to add files to mega and then have authorities take that down or mr dotcom use the funds people pay him for criminal activities

Nor will he now have the ability to monitor the contents of other peoples files as he once could have done."

Personally I wish him well, and I'm sure there are many people on this planet doing far worse things and getting away with it.

well you dont know the hosting industy. a website is hosted usually on a VPS which is only 1 server on a larger dedicated server. If one account on the VPS is hosting illegal material this effects the whole node (dedicated server) and all other customers on the node, so if the datacentre who runs the dedicated server get an officai;l DMCA (usa) or any other takedown notice then they are oblicated to act on this to protect all other customers then have, so they are very aware that whatever is hosted must be legal.

thats not true, you as a consumer can report illegal meaterial to a hosts provider direct and the provider must act on the report.

like if you get spam email you can report this too spamcop.net who will report this to the originators provider and have originators IP blocked/blacklisted.
