In short the US authorities have screwed up. There is absolutely no doubt that megaupload hosted huge amounts of material without the copyright holders consent. The question is does that break any criminal law and so far nobody has proved it does.

Yet they have still levelled no charges against the man or his company.

Failed to get any data from Canada as the search request was too broad (basically a fishing expedition).
    * Why do they need to have all the data when they know exactly what he has done wrong?
    * Why don't the servers in the USA carry all this data?
    * Why won't the government return the actual legitimate stuff stored on this service if the end user can prove they own it?

    Why also have they:-

Failed to get the NZ judiciary to back them with regards to seizures or, in fact, the freezing of KDC accounts.
Failed to provide any semblance of anything they've leveled against him in the media.
Generally failed to do anything about him or his "illegitimate" business services?

Could we suggest that the US agencies have gone off half cocked?

Where we currently stand is that the US law enforcement agencies have made KDC look like a victim and made you look like an apologist for their utter inability to get the job done properly by the rules the government have made.

    Well done.

Why don't the servers in the USA carry all this data? because one server may not have been big enough and if he has been rackerteering then he can move stuff from server to server easier if he controls the servers.

many companies have servers in different world locations. as backups users may have placed files on a USA server and as a secuirty feature that have used a cluster to relay this information on several servers, so if 1 server went down the files would be on another server and acceptable by users. so all servers would be seized to check

yes it was not all just about copyright material. This http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Dotcom would also give them just cause as his history shows.

If you can name one such 'authority' that is revered and respected by everyone in the entire world I shall be very surprised indeed.

People disagree. People argue. People are dumb.
