I can see where you are coming from in terms of losing weight but I just can't advocate not exercising!
I don't advocate not exercising either, just not exercising the old fashioned way to make yourself hungry. I do HIT exercise and strength training. No more than an hour a week in different sessions. I walk a couple of miles a day too but don't really consider that exercise as it's low impact.

No matter how healthy, any calories over the target are not good for losing weight, that's why I go with the high intensity low volume stuff. And, there is evidence that this method is as effective as jogging for hours a week, or whatever. It's certainly working for me. Although I'm only a sample of one, it's an extremely important sample to me. ;)

  • Morning all, just had a quick read through the last couple of posts and they are all very positive.
I am on day 3 of a juice fast and have decided to curb my carbs. To my dismay, lots of my favourite vegetables are high in carbs.
Can anyone suggest any easy recipes containing chicken or fish and veg that is low carb?
    Have a great day all

I sometimes have a piece of cod/haddock that I microwave and add a poached egg or two for breakfast. I buy roast chicken thighs from Aldi and will sometimes have one or two of those plus a hard boiled egg for lunch. Not what I'd call recipes but still low carb.

Yesterday evening my wife cooked a chowder using "pie fish" (little offcuts of several varieties) bought comparatively cheap from Sainsbugs. Added onion, leeks, red pepper and a little potato & sweetcorn. I don't normally do any sort of grains but there wasn't a lot and sweetcorn doesn't contain gluten. Reet tasty!

  • Hi All,

Hope everyone has had a good week. I successfully stuck to my meal plan and exercised 30 mins a day from last Sunday until this Saturday morning and reduced my weight from 82.2 Kg to 78.8 Kg. I then had a moment of weakness and indulged in Pizza Hut for dinner last night - I don't know what possessed me!

My weight today is 80.1 Kg. Total loss so far 2.1 Kg. Enjoying the exercise and the feeling of extra energy it gives me.

Meeting up with a friend for an Indian meal this Friday which usually means a few glasses of wine as well. I'd normally have chicken tikka masala but have decided to opt for the slightly healthier salmon tikka with salad. I'm now thinking I may need a day a couple of times a month where I'm allowed to indulge somewhat. As long as I continue to exercise each day and stick to my meal plan 90% of the time then hopefully I'll continue to see positive changes!

It is weird how my weight fluctuates! It is up by 5lbs at the moment since 1st thing this morning, which is just down to differences in fluids, as I have not eaten particularly much today.

  • Well I weighed yesterday and am down to 65.5kg (approx. pre Xmas weight, although I actually put more on at the start of January by finishing off all the leftovers!).

Played two matches this weekend so a good weekend, and am looking to start half marathon training next week (normally run 3-4 miles so gradually going to be upping my distance).

Keep up the good work everyone!

weighed in and stayed the same 60.5, so 1.5 off since i started (4/1), but as exercising (cardio, strength & pilates/yoga) 4/5 times a week, no alcohol and watching what i eat, a little disappointed. Hit 40 though this week, so will be giving myself a push to really get motivated - i want to be fab and 40 not fat and frumpy @ 40 lol!

It's quite normal. I was 12st 12 lbs last Thursday and 13st this morning. No way have I had 7,000 calories above my basic requirement since then. If you're doing any strength training like me, then one must be aware that fat loss may not equal weight of muscle gain. That's one reason I took measurements before we started the programme.
