10 week weight loss challenge....please join me!

Options
I have decided to try and focus on losing a bit of weight over the next 10 weeks, which will bring me to the end of March (I plan to start this on Saturday). I realise there are lots of threads already on this board about weight loss, but they mostly seem to focus on one particular diet or plan.

I do the Grocery Challenge on the OS board, and find it so helpful to just have to be accountable for what I spend that I thought I would try it for this. Last year I lost 10lbs (only dieted on and off and ate sensibly the rest of the time). But lately I find myself giving into cravings all the time. So, with all the rambling over my aim is to lose 5kg by the end of March (for those of you on old measures that's 11lbs). My scales only weigh in kilos!

I will input my weight on Saturday morning when I start. I would love to have some company along the way, so please if you are interested post a target for the 10 weeks and lets keep each other motivated!!

I will keep a blank post below just in case anyone else wants to join then we can keep a record of everyones targets!

  • I'll join you - I started last week but I'm not doing WW or SW - I'm going it alone (well my OH is also going for it). I'm just going to eat smaller portions and exercise more. Its worked in the past. We plan to be dieting until March 17th (St Patricks Day) and we've a wedding the week after, so I want to look somewhat slimmer.

Last week when I weighed in I was 11st 3lbs (I'm only 5'2"!!!!). This week I was down to 10st 13lbs, so that 4lbs down so thats reassuring.

For food I'm actually using the Hairy Dieters Cookbook - all the food is really yummy but every meal in there is less than 500cals so its great - highly recommend it.

I've also downloaded a few exercise apps on my phone and bought some dumbells and an exercise mat and am doing aerobics in my living room in the evenings!!!!

If I look at a realistic 2lb per week weight loss then by March 17th I should have lost at least 1st 6lbs if you count the 4lbs I've already lost - so that will bring me down to 9st 11lbs - I think my ultimate target will be closer to 9st, but 9st 11lbs will do for now :)

Fingers crossed we stick to it :)

Hi there. Count me in. I've ballooned in the past 6 months. After my Dad died I went to pot eating-wise and am now the heaviest I've ever been.

I am using the My Fitness Pal app on my phone to count calories. I've done this before and it worked really well.

If I type my weight here, it will definitely be a LBM for me. 14st 3lbs. There you go. It's in black and white and I am named (sort of) and shamed (definitely). In new money that's 90.265kg - uggh...

As for a target? I've not thought of it in terms of how much I'd like to lose. I'd just like to fit into the clothes I've got (a baggy cardi hides a multitude).

I know I find it hard to shed 2lb a week, so I'll conservatively set my target at losing 1 stone and see how I go from there.

Thanks for the LBM and kick up the bum!!! Game on.

I'm in, my goal is to be 12st for March 25th. I was 13st 1lb just before Christmas and had ten days of unadulterated food eating and wine & single malt drinking. I put on 3 or 4lbs and will weigh myself Saturday morning too.

I lost 57lbs between last March 7th and December 22nd. At that rate, I may just make my goal.

Are we sharing methods, or just results?

I reckon 2lbs a week is a tad high. 1-2lbs is often a recommendation, I like to make sure of the lower number and take the extra half a pound week as a nice bonus.

The trick is to keep it off and that's why I have opted for no grains or sugary products.

I lost just over a stone in just over a month during last summer and 2 - 3lbs a week was about the norm - actually 2lbs was a low week, so I know for me that 2lbs is realistic. I lost 4lbs last week and that was before I kicked in with the exercise so I should be able to maintain my 2lb a week goal.

I have kept it off too, and this time I'm all about changing the way I eat to a way that's maintainable after I hit my goal, which is why I'm not specifically changing the food I eat, just the way its cooked and the size of the portions.

Very true, 1/2lb a week will be better but most people would feel their diet would last too long at that rate so want bigger losses.

    Remember 2 things

    1) you put it on in little instalments so take it off in little instalments.

    2) lose too much to quick and your skin will not go back to its original size properly and you will be left with saggy hangy bits.
Surgery is the only way to remove them when that happens.
    So, go slow and steady.
  • Good to see a few people up for the challenge!!

NigeWick - methods, results, meal plans, advice, anything and everything can be discussed! The idea is to keep each other motivated, be a bit accountable for what we are doing and go from there!!

I too, am not using a specific plan. My mum and sister do slimming world so they give me lots of super low fat recipes which are all really nice. I also like the Hairy Dieters recipes, am making their sweet and sour chicken this weekend!

I'm generally quite good at doing exercise, I run and play hockey so that bit shouldn't be difficult for me, although I have done a lot less since Christmas so just need to get back on it!

Will update the targets post in a minute, then we can update it with progress as we go!

I adopted the Weight Watchers plan (all info sourced on line - did not join) and lost 4 stone in seven moths, easiest sustainable weight loss I have ever done!

I'm join as well if you don't mind. I'm the same height as Wantahouse but about 1/2 stone heavier (I don't do kilos lol).

I'm off to Turkey with 11 friends on 25th March so this fits in great for me. I've already started and have been losing 1 lb a week for the past 3 weeks.

I've just ate healthier but really need to fit in some exercise!

I'll post my weight on Saturday.

Can you put me down for a target weight of 10st 7lb by 23rd March please
