Private Parking Tickets; An Alternative View

I am constantly reading on this forum about people who are calling private parking tickets a ‘scam’ and will offer you an alternative view of the situation from someone who has been forced to implement this scheme in order to protect our parking spaces.
Without identifying the specific car park, I live on a main road and pay for a private parking space behind the shopping area, outside the flat I own. This is a busy area with all the usual amenities. There are around fifteen parking spaces which are leased from the leaseholder’s management company by local businesses and residents. There are clear and frequent warning signs from the (BPA registered) parking company - 9 signs and a large sign clearly stating ‘Permit Holders Only’ however people still park there then complain when they get a ticket. When they are given tickets there is always get a picture with the car and at least one clearly visible sign in the ticket.
If I cannot park outside my flat in the space I pay nearly £1,000 a year for, I have to go into a local paid car park, park half a mile away, block someone else in or use someone else’s space.
I then read in your forums from people who are proud of the fact that they are ignoring letters from parking companies and seem to think it is amusing to inconvenience other people. I also have read statements that only 30 or 40% of these tickets are paid - well, looking at our account over the last three years (discounting the last couple of weeks as people tend not to pay straightaway) I can tell you that more than 95% of our tickets have been paid.
Because some idiots (particularly one local business) ignored these warnings and tickets, the police have got involved, with one local businessman being charged with harassment.
Whilst many of you think there are no implications from using these parking spaces, I can tell you that you are wrong and there have been many incidents involving people who have taken incorrect advice from this forum.

I have every sympathy with you, however, stand by to be flamed by some members on here.
Many have the concept that ALL unprotected parking (no posts or barriers erected) should not incur any form of financial implications, but may not be honest enough to admit what they would do if someone constantly parked on their drive.
I draw a distinction between the rights of an individual not to have anyone park on their residential property - whether allocated parking or a drive - with no recourse, and car parks that are used by PPCs as cash cows.
So flame me as well, folks!0 -

Why not name them and include quotes to support this ridiculous assertion?
Good luck.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Seriously, no childish smileys, go and find a post which supports the bit I've bolded in your post.Je Suis Cecil.0

Yes, a very good point that I should have added - what would you do if someone constantly parked on your drive?
We did have a barrier erected [at great expense] which was then damaged beyond repair by someone with poor driving skills and had to be removed. As far as being flamed.....bring it on....I can handle it!0 -

Told you you would be flamed !!! Didn't take long.0 -
Good valid post I feel but, unfortunately PPC's with their greedy, underhand, scamming tactics have brought this revolt upon themselves.
The barrier (when it existed) was surely the best remedy, and should have been replaced under an insurance claim.0 -
Yes, it's the 'what would you do if someone constantly parked on your drive' bit that gives it away.
Every time.Je Suis Cecil.0 -

I would suggest dealing with it on the merit of the arguments rather than on whether the poster is a troll. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

Regrettably, searching through the forum for my old posts or relevant threads, I can't find the one that I specifically wanted. It was some months ago
However, the gist of it was that I made a post on another thread saying that a friend of mine suffered the problem of people parking in her allocated space and ap protracted exchange with a couple of members indicated that it was their position that the solution to the problem was to erect a parking post.
I explained that this was not possible and the response was to the effect that if she couldn't "fence out" then there was no real recourse except pleading with driver. (That's from memory).
But as I said, just wait for some of the posts on here and judge.0
