I dunno, maybe bcos BMW and Benz has only 3 models in the top 100 reliable UK cars?

never trusted BMW and Benz when it comes to reliability and this is probably why. :D

Well, never having owned an expensive German car I couldn't possibly comment on your link so fair enough. However, I did use the car manufacturers for the purpose of an analogy concerning
warranties which, really, are a separate issue from reliability.

Warranties are a liability and longer warranties are only provided for the purpose of encouraging consumers. I guess Apple don't need to do this as the products sell anyway.

Back to my earlier post - I don't care really. I've seen enough smartphones to make my own informed choice about reliability - and I have.

Good question. Why do Mercedes, BMW etc only offer 3 year warranties as opposed to Kia's 7 years and Vauxhall's 10 year?

Probably because they don't feel the need to convince consumers that what they make isn't crap.

BMW and Mercedes may be high end marques but they aren't actually renowned for reliability. I think the real answer may be that Apple like the extra £60 it brings to the balance sheet. ;)
  • Apple charge a premium on their phones because they have a handful of high street stores in each country where you can go in and get problems sorted out.

However mine is a 250mile round trip to Regent St., so I am happy i'm not paying extra for a service that's no good to me.
  • Really? The iphone 5 p1sses all over the S3 on nearly every hardware test. Unless you know better than the folks at Anandtech?:rotfl:

Interesting, I thought Android owners were supposed to be geeks that cared about that sort of thing.

All I know, is my Nexus4 is blisteringly fast at everything I do, it's a doddle to get to info quick, and I could never go back to iPhone now. Most notably because of the lack of widgets, opening up an app to check the weather forcast or footy scores is SO last year... :)

Warranties are a liability but I think some companies do base the length of the warranties are based on how reliable the product is. If your product are reliable, then warranties are not too much of a liability then and it can also draw customers. Though that is quite out of topic :p

I would like to think that Android user care more about usability and flexibility of the OS. At least I am.

BTW, iOS lack of widgets etc are not so last year. It is so LAST 6 YEARS :D

The OP should try both phones and go with whichever one they like the best. They are both amazingly pieces of engineering in their own right.

Apple do it so they can flog applecare at a higher price, making them more money
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
