  • Schools have to be realistic Snaggles. At the moment you can't just take time off. you need to feed your kids!!

You could say to them look I warned you this would happen, if you want to meet can it be after or before school? Would that be better for the work situation?

11 strikes me as a silly time to meet a working parent.

maybe leave the I told you so bit, that might be a bit much :) Tempting tho........................

    Phew, payday.

I have become a bit obsessed by spreadsheets since I have been using them more regularly for my job, and have done various theoretical budgets, based on my circumstances now, and when (if) I sell my house.

Needless to say, once the house sells, I should be ok. Until then...

I've listed everything I need to pay this month, and it leaves me with £120 for food and petrol. It's also DS's 6th birthday before next payday, so things will be...let's say challenging!

I spent £8 on craft stuff, as they are making models out of empty boxes today. It was a bit much really, but packets of various pipe cleaners, glittery things and sticky things will last months, so I don't feel too bad about it. If I'd taken them out somewhere today, it would have had to be indoors, which probably would have cost more (the schools are closed here today).

I also spent £15 on things for the party - disposable plates, cups etc, and invitations. I will still need to sort out plastic cutlery, party bags, cake, music and party food. And then there's the presents. :o

I spent £11 on groceries and (:o:o ) £10 on a dress in the sale (which I'd tried on a couple of weeks ago, but there were lots left so I decided to wait to see if it went into the sale).

I shouldn't have bought it, and I could try to justify it by saying it was cheap, or that my self esteem is dreadful at the moment and I needed a boost, but really I just spent money I shouldn't have spent. Sighh. :wall:

So £44, out of a budget of £120, and we're only on day one of the month. I may need a miracle. Or a tax rebate..that would be lovely about now!

Thanks for the comments regarding the school, by the way. We went to see them on Friday in the end, and funnily enough, I think the fact that we couldn't drop everything and take the day off on Thursday helped them to realise what a stressful position we are in.

I don't know what will happen really. Son isn't coping very well there at the moment, despite everyone's best efforts. He hates the thought of changing schools though, and the schools which have specialist units are over half an hour away (more in morning traffic I imagine), so it's not an appealing prospect! We will see, I guess!

    Back to work tomorrow!

Not sure about tomorrow, but Wednesday is looking like a stressful day. I'm heading to Galashiels for a meeting, which means catching the bus from Edinburgh (a quick look at the bus timetables had confirmed that I don't know which bus, where to catch it or what time it goes... :o ). The meeting itself is making me nervous, as I will need to come across as professional, knowledgeable and unflappable. :rotfl: I am not those things!

I'm hoping that if I make a good impression, it will lead to me having lots of new clients at work, which will be fantastic after 3 months of mainly research and 'trying to look busy'! It's such a fantastic opportunity, to be a part of setting up a new, much needed service, but I also need to show that it works, and is worth funding, otherwise it won't continue to be.

After that, I have to dash back to Edinburgh for our first appointment with CAMHS here. My last encounter with CAMHS was positive overall, and led to my son's Asperger's diagnosis, but there were times I felt overwhelmed by the whole process. We need them to be involved, but I am nervous about it.

At least being busy this week should stop me from finding opportunities to spend money! :D Bf seems quite taken with my new dress mind you so...partial win! :T

You are professional and knowledgeable. Can't comment on unflappable. I don't think anyone is unflappable if they are actually real and an honest person. Just be real!

Think the second appointment of the day may be adding to your stress! Maybe just try to forget that for the first part of the day.

Aww, I can be unflappable after a couple of glasses of wine, maybe, but I think that may undermine the 'professional' bit. :rotfl:

The second appointment is definitely making me fret, so this evening I'm going to make a note of the things we want to mention and ask, fill in the form we need to take with us, look up the address and where to park etc, and then I will put it firmly out of my mind until 5.30pm. Maybe. :)

Came to the conclusion today that I just cannot afford this month. Bf has helped me out so much already, so I don't want to ask him to bail me out again, but I'm still to come up with a plan. Anyone want to buy a house? Or a kidney? :D
