I gardened until I could barely move yesterday, and it looks lovely now. Bf has suggested going to the garden centre today for some bedding plants for the raised bed I dug out. I don't want to plant anything too permanent this year, because there were some HUGE plant roots in the bed (it took me over two hours to dig them all out). If I didn't get them all out, and they come back, they will strangle anything I plant, so a bit of summer colour will suffice for this year, until I see whether it is ready for more permanent plants.
Other than that, I weeded, planted, relocated some existing plants, swept and tidied. I couldn't even manage to eat dinner, I was so shattered! I feel achy but ok today though.

Ah yes, the money stuff.

Well, I did the shopping yesterday, bought a couple of small presents for N's birthday in the sale (a couple of clothing items: a chunky-knit cream cardigan reduced to £6.50, and a cute t-shirt reduced to £1.50).
I also got the rest of the non-food things we need for N's party, other than music, and we made up the party bags, so I am feeling more organised.
I think I am going to struggle financially this month, particularly as both kids need new shoes, N needs new tap shoes and R needs a new coat and swimming trunks.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

Hurray, the bedding plants are in, and the whole garden looks neat and tidy. The bedding packs were 3 for £9, although bf paid for them. We also did a top-up shop, which he paid for too :T as I have been basically only buying the essentials (why yes, that dress the other week WAS essential :rotfl:). Our cupboards were looking a bit bare, but now we should be ok for the month, barring some fresh stuff.
I feel bad about letting him pay for the shopping, when he's already paying for pretty much everything else (household bills etc), but it sounds ungrateful to complain about it, so I won't. I'll just say that I realise I am lucky, but somehow it doesn't stop me from worrying constantly, or feeling like a bit of a failure when he has to help out.
Dinner is going to be baked salmon, and there's a bottle of cheap-but-nice cava chilling in the fridge. Today is being quite well behaved really.

a relationship is about give and take - financially, emotionally practically (ie housework etc) , and there may be time in the future when you are the one giving a bit more and your lovely bf has to take.
sit on his lap and give him a good cuddle!!

I will Beanie, I promise. N's birthday is 9th May, so a little way to go but I haven't found her a proper present yet. She has no idea what she wants, so I will probably take advantage of whatever toy sale I can find between now and then.
Haha Scaredy, bf says he is looking forward to the giving and taking, and the lap thing. Shall I slap him for being a roodie? :rotfl:I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. How old will N be again Snags? My friends have kids, I might be able to help!0

She'll be 6, Sparkles - any ideas welcome! She likes the usual suspects: Hello Kitty, Peppa Pig, Disney Princesses (so much for my attempts to bring her up with 'unisex' toys! :rotfl:).
I was going to buy her a bike, but...finances
and anyway she has been riding her brother's old bike and loves it, so I don't think there's any point buying her one until she outgrows that one.

Well the good news is that more people seem to be viewing my house since it went back on the market.
The bad news is that the viewers seem to be...in little worlds of their own. :rotfl:
- It needs too much work (No it doesn't. I know this is a personal thing, but objectively, it's clean, well maintained, it has double glazing, central heating, damp proofing, cavity wall and loft insulation, a drive for 2 cars, a nice bathroom and presentable kitchen, the decor is neutral and there's nothing structurally wrong with it).
- It's smaller than expected on the inside (Well, it's not a TARDIS, I'll grant them that!).
- It's not where they want to live (Erm...nope, I have no response to that other than WHY DIDN'T YOU NOTICE THAT BEFORE VIEWING IT??!).
The only recent offer was for £65k (LOL!), but even that was offered in a begrudging "Well, we don't really want it, but we'll take it off your hands if you want" way.
I am never selling another house. :wall:I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. If you have any questions about debt management and debt relief under Scots Law, just ask.The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow.0 -
