Oh blimey, I forgot the traditional 'my ex is a numpty' rant!

5yo returned to Edinburgh with a large chocolate santa, which had gone stale, and had evidently been stored too close to something scented, so also tasted of Jif Lemon (or Cif, or whatever they are calling it these days). I am glad she made me try some really, otherwise I'd never have known how foul it was. I had to go out and buy a suitable replacement, so she'd let me throw it away. Grr.

Son was measured for a suit for his dad's wedding while he was in Yorkshire, but apparently I am expected to take him into the city centre for one, possibly two fittings, and also take him to collect the suit the week before the wedding (this had better not mean I have to pay for it!!!), then drive them to Yorkshire so they can attend the ceremony (to which I am not invited).

I honestly think he can't understand why we split up. :o

Your comments do make me giggle. It's reassuring to know it's not just me being overly picky and unreasonable. :)

Well, today has just been fabulous. And as everyone knows, italics mean sarcasm. :)

Son has been 'unsettled' at school all week, and today the inevitable meltdown happened. Cue him being asked not to go back in tomorrow, until after we have a meeting with the depute head at 11am.

Not that my son isn't my highest priority or anything, but you see, I have this thing called a job(not to mention a mortgage and bills coming out of my ears), and taking yet another day off at short notice, for family reasons, while I am still in my probationary period is not going to make my employer especially happy.

If it were an emergency, I would ditch my job and be there like a shot, but this is happening every few weeks now. It's getting silly.

Either he is suitable for mainstream education or he isn't. They can't keep unofficially excluding him and treating us like we are terrible parents because he is getting worked up at school.

Twelve months ago, I told them I was concerned that this would happen, and said he needed specialist support. What do I know, eh? :wall:

I may be feeling a little cross and bitter today...

    Thanks Lou. xx

The problem is that neither of us can really take the day off tomorrow without causing some major problems at work, but if we say that, then it will look like we don't care enough.

It's hard to balance caring for your kids with managing to hang onto a job and not going under financially though. I could put DS first unconditionally, which is my instinct as a parent, but that means that because I have an autistic child, I don't get to have a job, just sit at home on benefits on the offchance I am needed.

I feel selfish and guilty for saying I don't want to do that. We bend over backwards to engage with and support the school, but this might be one of those times when they are just asking too much.

In the absence of knowing what to do, I am having a glass of wine. :o

Could you ask the school if you could have the meeting on Friday?
It is only one more day after all.
They must understand people can not always get time off after all just at a whim.

Yes, will do that. If I wasn't still in a probationary period, with a track record of high ill-health absence in my previous job, I'd be less concerned, but with two mortgages to pay, I really need to keep my job!
