    Hey Snagggles :)

hope you are ok and  to the dancing expenses! bloody cheeky that they keep the outfit or don't let you get your own stuff.

    take care xxxx

It really is a cheek. I'm trying not to worry about it too much and accept it as a once-a-year cost that isn't TOO ridiculous, but honestly, they are taking the pee a bit! :)

She did mention wanting to give up swimming and start ballet and gymnastics instead next term though...argh! Just hope I have sold the house by then!!

I've said no to the giving up swimming until she can do it without armbands, so that buys me some time. I love her having hobbies really, but I can't *actually* afford them until I stop having to pay for a mortgage on a house I'm no longer using.

Lou, at least two of my favourite people have it. :)

Ouch to the cost of the dance outfits! I remember my friend at school doing dancing and her mum was always wiped out by it. Think our baby will do gymnastics - if she likes it, not that it's any cheaper!

Sorry to hear about your niece but a confirmed diagnosis can open doors to a lot more help

I wonder if gymnastics will be cheaper than swimming? Somehow I doubt it, but you never know! Maybe she will be able to wear the same leotard for everything! (Er...washing it in between, of course!)

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
My brother did it for a while and there was a lot of kit once you were at competition level, which was about nine months to a year for most kids. You had to pay to enter a lot of the comps too. That was 12 years ago mind you!
  • Snaggs sorry to hear about all the rubbish being thrown at you lately. However I am please to hear your niece has a diagnosis, will that mean she will get more/different/better treatment?

Re the gymnastics if she comes to enter shows/competitions where you need a more 'flashy' leotard don't out rule ebay. Many other children will be doing the same thing and out growing them, if you can get them second hand/sell them on it may not cost you as much. There must be a way to wash/steralise them and I can image that is cheaper than buying new each time she needs one because she has grown out of the original. Obviously that may not be what you want to do but its an idea :A

Maybe I can get her to take up the piano, or astronomy. Then we wouldn't need to buy anything extra, as those are some of bf's hobbies! :D

Some good news to brighten up an otherwise crappy week - my car has been on its last legs for months (it was very old when I bought it, and two years of driving between Edinburgh and Yorkshire have taken its toll!).

I obviously couldn't even consider replacing it at the moment, but bf got fed up of the broken door, broken window mechanism, broken windscreen wipers, damaged gear stick, rusty sills, massively dented side panel, damaged flooring and jammed aerial (nope...I don't know what's not to love about it either... :rotfl:), and decided 'we' were going to have a new car (well, new to us).

We went looking today and found a lovely one, so he bought it, and it comes with 6 months' tax, so I don't need to pay for car tax on my old one! Woohoooo!

It's an automatic and I have never had one of those before, but I really enjoyed the test drive, and even though it's 5 years old, it is immaculate and has very low mileage.

I feel a bit bad for posting about it on here, because there is no chance I could have afforded a new car at the moment with the state my finances are in, but I'm really excited about having it. Sorry. :D:o

Better try not to bump it into anything for a while. :o

    Evening!

I have had a lovely mother's day. I don't usually get anything unless one of the kids make a card at school, but this morning they surprised me with a card and a bottle of whisky (haha, not a typical mother's day present but it is my favourite sort). Bf made cream cheese and salmon bagels for breakfast, and roast duck for lunch, and everyone has been really nice to me all day.

    My heart feels happy. :)

It's annoying that the weekend is over, but I have fun things to look forward to this week, including going to see The Rocky Horror Show on Thursday, collecting the new car on Saturday and a lovely DFW friend coming to stay on Sunday. :T

And only 10 days till payday. :j :rotfl:
