Yes that's right the Shires estate, i couldn't remember the name. I don't know what it's like but it's set away on it's own and only minutes away from the town centre.
Is this on the Shires ?

i would have to go and look at the houses , but all the ones i've chosen i would consider in nice areas, and depending on the house i would live here.
good luck with your search.0 -
I have to agree with kingfisherblue, Clock Face village (the bit over the bridge) is much better than the 4 Acre estate.
I grew up in Cranshaw Avenue and went to a lovely little village sshool which has now been demolished.
There are good and bad areas everywhere, parts of Sutton and Parr have problems with traveller families but we lived in Parr for a while and it was lovely although the estate agaent referrred to it as Broad oak when we moved.
We are now in Haydock which again can be good or bad, things have definitely gone downhill over the years as a lot of the old people have died and their houses have been sold to developers who will rent to anyone.
The town centre is pretty much dead unless you like pound shops and charity shops14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -

the shires is ok, but the houses inside are small, there is a small student element, but these are located at the bottom of the estate, you know where the pallet place is, just on the bend there, as your making your way to the phoenix, there is a close of houses and rooms are rented out by students, can get a bit noisey here.0 -

Dibuzz, I might know you. I grew up on Abbots Hall Avenue, and there haven't been that many kids living round there over the last thirty years or so. ETA, I also went to the same school. So did my daughter. The day it closed was her final day in primary school. My old dinner lady lives in Cranshaw Avenue, and another dinner lady used to live in Finch Close.
Saint_Chris, I wouldn't go for the house in Greenbank unless you know the area has improved a great deal. It used to be a really rough area, but that was when St. Thomas Square was round the corner.
OP, another good thing about Clock Face, Sutton Leach areas- as I stated earlier, we're only ten minutes from Widnes. Reel Cinemas are cheaper and smaller than Cineworld, and on Mondays and Wednesdays, tickets are only £3.30 each. Much better than £8.10 at Cineworld, and parking is better too.0 -
and ST H still has a theatre - i went at Christmas to see the panto - great fun, and exactlyt the same inside the Theatre Royal as 40 years ago0
