I'm from ashton in makerfield just up the road from st helens I live right near the race course. It's not a bad area we've never had any trouble it's got good links to the motorway the m6 is on the doorstep and the east lancs.
There is good and bad parts of St Helens tbh we had a few customers on the Bold estate a while back it seemed a nice area then not sure what it's like now? Keep away from the likes of Parr, Clockface.
Newton le willows is a dump, compared to what it use to be like it's rife with drugs, drug dealers and skanks. I still have family that lives there but I wouldn't move back there for all the tea and china. Some parts are alright but not many.
Maybe check out the area's your thinking of during the day and on weekend nights. I know the race course can be a nightmare when it's throwing out!

we went to bed one night in lancashire and woke up the next day in merseyside, due to the people down at whiteall.
The reason to boost merseysides population and that's why we can't go back to lancashire.

Growing up in Huyton we use to be Lancashire as well.
I can remember coming over Runcorn Bridge and there was a sign saying Welcome to Lancashire my Grandad would tell us it meant .....
Let

England.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Another couple of positives for the old town, the people are incredibly friendly and they have the world's best RL team!
Wigan may have their pies but they don't have Cottom's hotpot!
I used to live there and go back every chance I can. Most of my relatives are in the cemetery there and I've already got my plot!
I much prefer it for shopping although I haven't been to Prescot for years. Or Widnes for that matter.
Some lovely areas to live are the top of Moss Bank (near the Black Horse) the top of Denton's Green (Ruskin Drive end) and near the old West Park School (top of Prescot Road).
I particularly like Rainford Road (opposite the Crem) and some of the areas off Cowley Hill Lane. Not forgetting the big old houses near Taylor Park off Dunriding Lane.0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::T I doubt you would find a Wiganer who would agree with that.0
