Agree with the last few posters. It is only 4 Acre in clock face you need to avoid.

Sutton is nice and still quite a nice 'community'. But drive around first.

no cindys, park lane, crystals or jesters

Not any more :rotfl:. And you're showing your age if you still call it Cindy's - how many years ago is that! I think someone told me it is a Helena office now.

i agree with all the above Clock Face, Sutton Manor, Sutton Leach, etc are all ok - the one council estate is 4 acre -the rest is ex coal mining community- its a mix of ex colliery terrace housing and lots of new build.

Why not stay at the Premier inn on the Link Rd (St helens south i think) and go out to a few pubs in the evening. walk around the area exploring - ST H Juntion railway station used to have a pub next to it many years ago, i remember getting off the train from uni and going in the pub to wait for my mum.

Good chinese chippy at the shopping area at 4 acre, round the corner from the tesco (or what i still call mac market - definitely showing may age and wow you jsut brought back so many memories of Cindy's on a saturday night)

For all those who are talking about Cindys, Lowies, Applebys, Martines, you may find this group interesting.

  • Second choice just down the road, http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-33652561.html

We will take a drive down there and have a look. Rainford and the other places named on here seem a little overpriced for our budget.
  • I'm too young to have had a drink in the Fleece! (I think). I remember the Koh-I-Noor, it was near my mum's office. She had a printers on Hall Street.

Artichoke, the chippy by mac market is Greek, not Chinese, although they sell Chinese dishes as well. I has recently won the award for best chippy in St. Helens. I had an omelette from there tonight :p

And yes, I sometimes still refer to Tesco as mac market. Back in the late 70s, early 80s, my mum and dad did their shopping there every Thursday, whilst my younger sister and I were in the library. That was when the building was just a library, before it was extended. They didn't shop at Whelans (now Morrisons) like our next door neighbours, because it was too expensive.

Ahh - i know the chippy at 4 Acre sells a lot of different stuff - my mum calls it the chinese as that is what she send us there for when we visit her..
