And, yes, I live in St. Helens too. I moved here as a child, and have never had the faintest desire to leave. It isn't just the town I

sorry the ST H memories are hijacking the OPs original question but i could not resist responding to this one - i remember the market and the nelson but what was the blow out? I might be too old ... it might be a modern place ?
and to get back on thread - i think the second choice house is in an ok place too....it is all safe - my mum has lived around this area for over 50 years and never had any problems..0 -

The blow out were the end of Helena House, nearest Gas Showrooms, where the warm air circulated at the entrance to the store.0

As you're coming up the hill out of StHelens towards Prescot there's a small estate of houses similar to that photo. Isn't that better than around Reginald Rd.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Whereabouts do you mean Sam?
Belvedere Avenue is at the end of Sutton Leach, OP, a decent area. I rive past the end of the road fairly regularly - twice a day during the day time and about once a week during the evening, and it is very quiet. It would definitely be worth you visiting the area, though, especially if you can come at different times of the day/week.
ETA, I know where you mean, Sam. You're talking about the Shires estate off Borough Road I think. Parts of it are ok, but I have heard that parts of it are quite rowdy. Several of the houses are rented to students if what I have heard is true, and although I wouldn't tar all students with the same brush, I have heard that there have been some problems there.
Incidentally, southern St. Helens doesn't seem to get as much snow as other areas. Clock Face definitely doesn't get as much as Billinge, but we arent anywhere near as high up.
It doesn't sound although you have children yet, but there are several schools in the area.0 -
what about an apt, or do you need a garden.
the lingholme pub has just been renovated, to a very high standard, it looks lovely from the outside, new tiled roof, and been done by mr pennington in st helens, these are available for rent for £500 but are top notch furnishings.

Good luck on your search OP.
A few areas I'd consider would be West Park (round the Rivington Street area and ten minutes walk into town), Sutton Road and the Toll Bar areas.0
