Thanks all, have been looking in Rainford and the area appears to be more suitable for us.
It looks fairly quiet and nice, and not to far traveling distance to the centre of St. Helens.
The prices seem a little expensive, so if we can't afford it, we will be looking around the Sutton area as they are a little cheaper.
You have all helped us out a lot and were very grateful. Thank you

I'm probably older than you, we moved there when I was 6 months old in 1963 and my mum is still there, I stayed till I got married in 1987.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
like anypart there are rough parts. in my opinion the town centre and Parr ways are rough.
As you go further out towards Eccleston, Grange Park (its a lovely big park huge lake) up to Knowsley Safari Park ways it is really really nice. House prices are quite high around these parts too.
We are buying in Whiston this year. So you have the nice part of st helens, and then also look at whiston, eccleston, prescot and rainhill
avoid thatto heath and parr ways...nearer the east lancs is the rough end, avoid too near the town centre0 -

You're not much older than me. I moved there when I was eight, in 1977. I moved out when I married in 1989, and my mum still lives there too. Small world
OP, I hope that your move to St. Helens is successful and that you are both very happy here.0
