Any of you ladies not own any expensive jewellery?

My entire wedding cost me £100. My wedding ring cost £35. My engagement ring cost £60. Both from Argos. My wedding consisted of me my hubby and two of his friends. We told everyone afterwards. To be honest the rings were just there to prove I had got him to marry me after all :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I love looking at those rings but I couldn't ever justify paying out the price of a car on one.I can't even find all the stuff to tell me how much I owe. :eek:0 -
Soozy,
I don't think you are being unreasonable, but only if you could afford it, and it would be better to pay for it upfront, would mean more to you both i'm sure...
Have you tried looking on ebay, just a thought, that way you could get a ring of the same ish value for less than halve the price?
For example;- Just had a quick look (very quick) and although this is £850, it's value is over £1,700 !! And it's ONE CARAT as opposed to the one you have seen which is Half a carat.

If you really must buy one then this is the route i would go down, then it will be yours.
THANK YOU. Beautiful ring. I think saving for a few months and ebay is the answer.0 -
I only have one piece of expensive jewellery, my engagement ring, it wasn't that expensive but Mr Fritha had saved up fro it specially (bless him!)
Why not have a look in Goldsmiths? You can use Tesco vouchers in there so ti will cut down the cost of buying a ring? That's what we've done for our wedding rings. The one you put in the link is absolutely gorgeous, I had a quick look to see if there were any ones similar....

Hope that helps :-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
My engagement ring was secondhand £60 (emerald and diamonds). My Celtic-style gold wedding ring was specially made by a friend, as was DH's - £250 for the two. And that's it. The rest is 'ethnic' silver or dichroic glass. To be honest, I wouldn't go into debt for jewellery, but then symbolic things don't mean much to me.Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0

I really think that in this day and age a man and woman should treat eachother equally - I'm not criticising you for WANTING the ring but it really is a daft thing to get into debt for. If you are £800 a month better off why not buy it cash in June?I am a Mortgage Adviser

If you have the money then why not but dont skint yourself for a piece of jewellery, why not just save up for a bit rather than paying it off over 3 years?
My mum used to have some VERY expensive diamond jewellry each piece was worth a few grand each and she had 2 rings, a bracelet, watch and pair of earings, although my dad took it all back when she left.
Although she says she loved her diamonds she wasnt that fussed when they were gone, she went to barbados last year and bought a lovely diamond ring and she said she felt better as she has saved all these years to get it herself.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -

the most expensive jewellery is my engagement ring which cost £199 my wedding ring cost £80.
couldnt wear a ring that cost much more i'd be terrrified of losing it!! (i know you can have it insured but all the same!!) why dont you treat yourselves both to something really nice that you will both treasure?'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
I've only got a wedding ring (which cost £320 for both) as I asked DH to marry me- I don't wear any other jewelery. We know we don't have the money to buy a 'bling' piece and I cannot justify getting a loan to buy one."Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0

i think my engagement and wedding rings cost under £200 together. my engagement ring is very similar to those posted on here - white gold with little diamonds, they are tiny diamonds but i think it's a pretty ring. my husband was expecting to pay around a thousand but there weren't any expensive rings as nice as the one i chose for £130.
i wouldn't get into debt for jewellery, no. not for a holiday either. perhaps i'm just tight? :rotfl:'bad mothers club' member 13
