Now all I need is a gammy leg.
I'm sure we could arrange that
Seriously though, that is a great looking stick. Is it tough enough to use as a walking stick?
Picked my first round courgette todaywhilst waiting for the antibiotics and pain killers to kick in  I hate teeth sometimes.
Tomatoes growing/flowering/fruiting well except for one that I was given. It's a potato leaf one and it permanently seems to look/is wilted. I have a moisture meter and the soil is fine, so is another potato leaf one I was given. It's growing, just looks sick.
Any ideas anyone?
Runners have put out their first flowers, french beans too, but they've been nibbled a bit and the early and later sown ones seem to have caught up with each other.
Garden/home is still a tip, hopefully get the shed windows in, turf roof liner on, and a good lock fitted this weekend then it can all go back after having been sorted and cleaned.
I have a mental picture of Fays shed, at least I think it was Fay? all neat and tidy and I want one like that too.
Need to paint it, fancy bright yellow or caribbean blue, but shed paint is so expensive so can't make a mistake. Hubby thinks both of those colours arebut I've been told it can be any colour I like

Thanks. I just like the fact I grew my own stick. And yes. it's tough enough to lean on. It does have a couple of softer spots where it could be crushed, but that's unlikely to happen. I've treated it with a wood hardener.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Got back from DD1's graduation yesterday having left DD2 to water my patch. Delighted to find three cucumbers on my two plants, tomatoes growing apace with several flower trusses appearing. I picked the first of the strawberries which have ripened beautifully in this heat. My aubergines not growing much however, I did sow them late, on a bit of a whim really as I've never grown them before so I'm not sure what to expect. After lots of male flowers on my courgette, I arrive home to find a four inch long fruit - just shows you what three days away can do. From moaning about whether anything edible would grow this year, after last year's washout, things are looking really good:j
Now anyone know anything about blueberries? My mum gave me a bush and i planted it up with a couple I got free (well P&P). I planted in large pot in ericaceous compost and have lots of leafy growth but no berries! Any ideas what i am doing wrong or whether they need a couple of years to get going?Books - the original virtual reality.

Blackcurrent picking this Friday when daughter comes to visit. They are really turning colour and I want to get there before the birds. More wine and loads of jam.
Anybody know if you can make wine with balckcurrents that have been frozen as I've too many to deal with in one go?0 -
Annie123 you go for whatever colour you like on the shed! Ipainted mine [10x8 ] in purple and white horizontal stripes,to much laugher from family
however in the long dull winter days this is a welcome splash of colour and said family agree it wasn't such a daft idea :T
Spent yesterday afternoon clearing out the shed  Can anyone tell me why I have so many nearly empty paint tins ? not to mention string [tangled] bits of wire,[also tangled ]and a few hundred plastic plant pots ,all in sizes I don't use?? Today took all this down to the tip, :T
Keep cool

What's a moisture meter? Is it useful? Should I get one?
In other news, looks like I need to re-pot my pity-toms and aubergine into larger pots.0 -

One of these:
http://www.wilko.com/garden-accessories/guardman-ph+moisture-meter/invt/0261281
Can't remember if I bought it or it was given to me.
Up until having one I would have said not needed and stick a finger in if in doubt. But, having got one, I like it.
It's useful if growing something new or you're not sure if you're providing too much or too little water, or if something has a problem it's easy to rule out over or under watering.
Very useful for hubby's assorted bonsai too.0 -
thank you!0

Hey everyone, I have some update pics but haven't had chance to get them onto the dreaded photo bucket yet (not keen on the new version!) but will try and do it later.
I have baby toms, pepper flowers, cucumber flowers and pea flowers. Not too bad saying I was really late this year0 -
