Welcome. Glad you're enjoying the thread.
I'm 6'3" and not as fit as I was, too.
See my previous post (#840) for photo instructions. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I went looking for spuds yesterday. A bit early, as they've only been in 10½ weeks (I've just worked that out - took me ages trawling through the thread!) so results were predictably disappointing.
Pulled up just four little 'uns, which already show some signs of slug damage. Since I have no wish to lose as many as I did last year, I've ordered a Nemaslug treatment pack.
Anyone here tried nematodes? Did they work? Slug pellets are all very well but don't get the ones underground. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
My gooseberry s are just showing themselves and my red currants are blushing every time I look at them. Can see not much sigh of raspberry s yet though. The first lot of peas I sowed have been eaten.....by me, raw, they never even got as far as the kitchen...bad me!
Although I have had about 5 or so feeds from the rhubarb there is no where near the pickings I had last year and the years before. Any one got ideas what to do. Will be gratefull. Thanks.0 -

It would appreciate a bucketful of rotted manure during the winter months. Put it around the crown rather than directly on top of it. Works for me.
I've had loads this year - I've just finished making 10 big jars of curried rhubarb chutney. I need to make jam next.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
oh yes, I can bake. A domestic goddess when it comes to sweet-gluten-free things. That's one thing I can do.
MBE - I still chuckle at memories of you asking if you could use a drill bit to test if a cake was done. Your cooking exploits are brilliant!
In other news, I have a very greenfingered chum who is agast at my lack of success, and is coming over in the next couple of weeks to 'sort me out' - her words, not mine. I intend on watching her work with a glass of wine in my hands while our hubbies bbq.0 -

You can, apparently. It's not so much fun now I know what I'm doing. I've got skewers and everything. I can even make a cake without referring to a recipe!

Good. Pay close attention. Make notes, or the only thing you'll remember in the morning is drinking wine. Trust me, I know whereof I speak.:rotfl:

I have quite a large garden myself about 100ft by 40ft, I think! I just can't handle it so well nowadays. I,m 63 so not as fit as I was. But I WILL NOT give in. I love gardening and growing things. Though nowadays my veggies are all grown in tubs or raised beds, much simpler.
Will try to get some photos up if anyone is interested and I can fathom out how to get them on here.
Keep on everyone. So enjoying this thread.0 -

um, if you make gluten-free pastry, yes. The trick is to use both gluten free flour and gram flour.0
