Harrys nan my mum also sowed some runners here in surrey and has them in the unheated greenhouse and so far so good they seem to be fine.:D

Just been out for a quick shimmy round the garden and everything is looking surprisingly good considering the cold..the rhubarb however keeps popping up to say hello then disappearing back down again lol

All the seeds I've sown in the cold greenhouse are up the windowsills are exploding so hoping the weather brightens up a bit so I can start planting up outside.

Debating wether to chuck some sacrificial spuds in..I know I'm not supposed to 'til I can sit on the soil with a bare bum but I think the neighbours will think I've really lost the plot if I do that :rotfl:

Have a great day all inside or out

The few spuds I put in flower buckets are fine even after being snowed on and I substitute bums for elbows on soil, good enough for babies baths then its good enough for my spuds. I've even got a few neighbours doing it :D

My soil is starting to dry out, I'm going to give it a few more days then spuds will be going in with fleece over, I'm desperate for the space indoors.

John if the soil is dry enough for spuds can I start with the parsnips? or should I wait till it warms up to normal temps for the month?

Was at mums yesterday and the clouds cleared......bright blue sky and a big yellow ball in it. This happened as I was driving to Sainsburys to get mum a few bits. As I walked in the were announcing it over the tannoy :rotfl:

I put my Rocket seed potatoes in a potato bag a couple of week ago and left them in the un-heated greenhouse. No sign on life yet but I have now put the other two in another bag. Still got Mozart and Charlotte but plan to put some in the ground but its also so cold here in the South.

Cleaned the patio, the deck and brick drive that gizmo for the Nilfisk pressure washer is magic. Had to use some patio cleaner for a particular green messy area but sparkling now.

Also sown some grass seed got a few bare patches and wanted to raise the soil level a bit around the patio. Cannot wait until we have some better warmer weather.

Our garden waste collection starts tomorrow so thats handy I don't use it much as we compost most stuff but for the twiggy bits and the fruit canes its good.

Been a fairly pleasant day again today and the week after next is so far looking quite promising temperaturewise..exciting!

I'm putting mine in tomorrow if I can stick the cold long enough. I'll put some cloches over. They could have gone in a month ago but as you say. it was too cold they wouldn't have germinated.

By all that is wonderful, when the sun came out yesterday IT WAS WARM. I planted my Aldi strawberry plants, a gooseberry and a red currant, some lavenders and Victorian primroses. I tidied up all of the garden it is looking ready for spring. My apricot tree is about to blossom which is a shame as it is too frosty and there will be no apricots I wish it would hold off for a couple of weeks. I planted perennial seeds, tomatoes, peas, sweet peas , and some annuals the kitchen looks like a nursery. The rhubarb is looking very good it is in its 4th year so there should be a good harvest.

Can you not put some fleeze around the apricot to protect it from frost?

I have done more tidy up today clearing old boxes of stuff and realising how much gear I do actually have. Cold here contemplating playing 9 holes.

Looks like a few of you have been busy. :)

I did relieve my dad of a trailer load of compost, as I haven't got enough. Oh, and he let me dig up a couple of clumps of snowdrops too. :)

I've got plenty of seedlings on the windowsill that are looking ok, but there's no chance of me doing anything outside yet. Looks like it's staying cold for a while. :(
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
