Hey Annie. I just noticed that we can celebrate next year. Our 10th year on this site.:T

Doesn't time fly, we must have been some of the first ones on here
You slightly before me I notice.

Almost all the snow has now melted. Accordingly, I think I will order the greenhouse covers, buy compost at the weekend, and will probably as a result plant some seeds Sunday.
    Maybe...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

This weekend I popped out in the snowy drizzle to prune some shrubs and have a tidy up. There is a forsythia growing by the backdoor and fence which is just too massive and too out of control for the space. So I chopped it back to about a foot above ground. Let's hope it recovers :o

One of the varieties of garlic I planted back in October appears to have given up. I think it was Cristo. Seems to have rotted above ground so I don't expect there to be much going on underneath now. The other two varieties, Marco and Iberian are going strong and look healthy so hopefully come the summer I'll be lifting nice big bulbs for the first time.

My rosemary is looking fine but I had to trim the top off of the bay. It's only a small plant that we bought last summer and the new growth that it had put on was all brown. Thyme, oregano and sage all looked very sad indeed so I gave them all a good haircut and am crossing my fingers they'll come rushing back.

We've had 2 mini peppers off of the two pepper plants that are living in our spare room over the winter. Yummy in a small salad. There are 6 or 7 more growing now but when I looked last night I noticed one of the plants has tiny white things on the underside of some of its leaves :( I guess they are aphids of some sort?! This morning I pulled off the affected leaves but I'll need to do something to get rid of the bugs for good. Does anybody have any tips?

Of the 6 cucumber seeds I put in 3 weeks or so ago, only one has come up. I'm trying again now with a new batch. Most of my tomato seeds have germinated. Some are looking stronger than others. Almost all of the french beans and mange tout have come on strong so I'm going to start hardening them off to see if I can get an early batch going.

Can anybody recommend somewhere to buy child size hula hoops? I made wigwams from canes last year for my runner beans which worked ok but I'd like to tie a hoop to the top instead this year so that they have a bit more room. Easier for me to reach in and pick too.

I've felt very glum looking out of the window at the terrible weather lately but there is promise of warmer weather to come. Fingers crossed!

Oh, and somebody mentioned Borage? I grew three plants last year and loved it. So pretty and the bees went mad for it. Unfortuneately it was a tad large for the corner I shoved it in... not sure I'll have the room this year but might try it in a shady spot and see what happens.

Wow what a difference a day makes its blowing a gale and freezing with it today!

Need to pot on a few black russian toms but run out of windowsills for them lol

I grew Borage its lovely but sadly waaay to big for my crummy garden :( still trying to dig it out now as it seeds everywhere.

Lemonjelly keep an eye out in Wilkinsons as they often sell their covers off really cheap :D

Yeah, but I've got more posts than the pair of you put together. Most of 'em complete rubbish. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Know any primary school teachers? I found them almost impossible to get unless I wanted a Hello Kitty one with bells and whistles. :wall: Fortunately t'other half is a teacher and managed to order some for me. :)

I've been given a nice bunch of wild garlic which I will hopefully get round to planting tomorrow. Along with the snowdrops. :)

You don't think the Hello Kitty sparkles would've added a sophisticated touch to your patch?

No I don't know any teachers at all... good idea though. I'm kicking myself because our local Poundland had some back in December but I didn't buy any because I was in Christmas shopping mode :doh:Of course, they don't have any now.
