Yes. It was weird snow too. Looked a bit like tiny polystyrene balls."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
it was snowing upwards here.
Can I ask advice on a non-growing subject? Our neighbour recently died and his very lovely grandson has inherited about an acre of very overgrown land behind our houses. He's offering us use of a fair whack of it (about a quarter) which is currently a lovely little orchard on a slope with a couple of terraces built in - and an old goose run!
I am desperate for a greenhouse, and would LOVE some more space to relax in. However, we're reluctant to put too much effort into clearing it and building new fences etc without some kind of agreement in writing.
So, my question is this - do you think it's fair/right/sensible to ask for some kind of document to be drawn up, or for us to offer to buy it or rent it? Or, is there the possibility of that being offensive to someone who is making a very kind gesture?0 -

Its taken 7 years to get it to this stage.
When I took it on it was knee high with brambles and bad weeds, no greenhouse, shed or fences.
Have husband to thank for structural stuff but its me that does the growing, weeding and every thing else.

Sorry short on time tonight so quick thoughts;
look at http://www.landshare.net/index/ which is basicallly what you 2 would have.
An agreement can be drawn up between the 2 of you by yourselves.
I'd be cautious as at this stage, they may have no idea what to do for he future but ideas may come to them over the coming year and selling up could be one of them. On the other hand they may have know they were getting it and are planning on keeping it long term.
I'd let them know your concerns, they are not unreasonable, and see what they say.0 -

That looks really smart. :TIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

That's a bit of a dilemma. Sounds like you can use but not have?"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
