Yes it will but you'll need to cover it with something. Depending on the size could be weighted down black bags to old carpet!
I used several black bags last year for my neighbours who didn't have a bin and they were amazed how much it shrunk and how many worms were in it. They had lovely compost for a few pots this year and grew some bumper crops in them.
They are now the owners of a cheap compost bin and compost everything they can.

Still not pulled a parsnip. I have my first cold of the year and it's floored me. Temp been around 102f (Don't know what it should be in new money) sneezing, coughing and my throat is raw. Good job I only get them at the start of the winter, I'd be really miffed if it was Feb due to busy seed sowing time.

Hope you feel better soon Annie

Nothing much happening here except rain and more rain, the ground won't take any more but at least it's not cold so the grass is still growing.

Just making jam/jelly from stuff that's in the freezer plus chutney. have ordered 3 apple trees for the garden plus a mulberry and a medlar for 'up top' Think I'll have a look at buying some blueberries, we are on 'greensand' here to it's quite acid.

Heck - I've just noticed MBE has nominated me for next year. If that's the case, my first duty is to delegate it to someone else. I don't think I'll be able to do it justice, and feel my role is more to amuse you with my inabilities rather than anything else.

    Annie? John?
  • 2 votes for Annie.:D But thanks LV.

He did, especially as it was my birthday on Tuesday. The trouble with getting older is I don't like the alternative!

I vote for John :D That's 2 votes too. I waffle too much, but then I'm a woman and I'm allowed to :p

Feel better at last, just got the irritating cough left and blocked sinuses.

Zafiro my ground is soggy too, especially the bit in front of the shed. More mud than grass now. Going to have to rethink that area.

I have had a quick look in the garden today and my garlic looks good and the leeks too. the parsnip leaves look wonderful so I will pull a couple this week, and post pics what ever they look like.

Nasturtium leaves are going for world domination but this weeks frost due should finish them off.

Found myself flicking through seed catalogues whilst ill. I must have spent £50 plus in my head, however my wallet said otherwise as I have enough seeds for all my neighbours too.
So I did sickbed planting plans, also enough to fit in everyone else's gardens. After 20 years I still refuse to acknowledge how small my garden really is ;)
  • I think you've passed it on to me now.
But we men just have to grin and bear it I s'pose.;)

Do you mean the duties of the board, or the illness?!

How about we share the board? I will undoubtedly forget to start it, but can certainly help it tick over.

The illness. MBE's still in charge until his official resignation. :D
