Yipee glad this thread is back. Thank you.
Last year I learnt how to.
1. Clear a garden with a skip
2. Learnt that digging out tree trunks makes your fence fall down.
3 Learnt how to put up new fencing, strangely connected to no 2
4 Chickens love strawberries, lettuce, carrots and any other buddy veg except potatoes and tomatoes.
5. Blight loves potatoes and tomatoes.
This year plant strawberries in hanging basket and net raised walled bed off even though chickens love to Sunbathe and dust bath in it.
Learn how to make proper compost cos mine just won't work and is, well, carp.
Excuse stupid spelling mistakes due to predictive text. Damon funny though. I rest my case.Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

Er i haven't planted anything yet! I thought about going out to the greenhouse but it's just too cold so waiting on a nicer day. My cherry tree is still waiting to go out-says not to plant out until frosts have gone. Hope it doesn't have to wait much longer.0

I forgot to say I have 2 baby apple trees that the chickens didn't bother with, but that could be due to no apples.
They didn't eat the rhubarb either, good job cos it's supposed to be poisonous to chooks, they did enjoy sitting on it and flattening it though.
I don't have a windowsill in my house that isn't at risk from kids or cats so will have to wait to plant straight outside.Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

One thing I am good at is compost. Chuck everything organic into a pile, but cut it up as small as you can be bothered first. Every few weeks, blitz it up with your Mantis (or give it a good stir with a fork). Wait.
Job done.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

What's a Mantis? . That was so hard to spell with this stupid predictive textand no I don't know how to turn it off.
I don't stir, that's my problem I will have to shovel it all out and mix it up, I have nearly a ton in 2 wooden bins built with very large pallets oh the joy and the majority is chicken pooLife is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

That's a Mantis. It is officially the best thing in the world for turning compost. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I am trying, not saying that it will work, to germinate peppers, cucumbers etc in kitchen roll in ziplock bags. ...
Well sown on the 12th and 2 days later all cucumber seeds have germinated, peppers too. Fairy lights left on just during the day as I wouldn't sleep thinking the house was going to burn down if I left them on at night. Chili seeds not yet, nor aubergines. This might be the case if I had grown them in soil but seeing it happen is all very exciting. Hopefully I wont kill them off as time goes on0 -

Wow that looks fearsome. I would have to take a side off compost bin anyway to use it. I will stick with garden fork and wheelbarrow for now. Interesting though, never too old to learn something new, so cheers. :beer:Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

Just to make sure my seedlings have the best windowsill conditions possible, I've just had new windows installed. Draught-free at last!If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
