That's true - I read it in a guide somewhere.

Those of you who claimed successfully did you go via the KLM site that has a compensation section or did you go with the letters printed off here?

I claimed through the KLM site for a long delay on the 14.12.14 flight from Bristol to Amsterdam and received a prompt reply offering compensation. I had been prepared to pursue it through the letter template on this site but there was no need. It's good to be able to report a positive experience. :)

I claimed on 20 December through the KLM site for a delay on 18 December and so far have receieved only a generic acknowledgement saying that they are so busy that they may not be able to reply within ten days. It's probably still too early to try anything else.
  • It has passed a month now. Ask them for the compensation and now its your turn give them time to reply.

We were delayed over night at CDG on 28/12/2014 on the way to JHB. I would just like to commend air france in their dealings with me. I tried to claim through their website but could not get my name and flying blue number to match so I called them on 20/01/2015 and have received an email from them today offering me £458 cash or £611 in flight vouchers each for my partner and myself.

That's great news, but I'd advise you to read Vaubans guide, work out how much compensation you are due and if you want it in cash then your legally entitled to it, you do NOT have to accept vouchers.

    Good result.

As far as I can see we are due €600 each due to the flight being over 4 hours late arriving and over 3500km. Air France have offered a total of £916 cash or £1222 in vouchers. According to xe.com €1200 is £898.26. They put us in a hotel for the night and fed us so we had no out of pocket expenses. Is there anything I am missing or does this seem right. In the email it does explain we can take it as cash or vouchers and that we have 12 months to use the vouchers or decide to take the cash.

If there is anything I haven't understood or have missed could you let me know.

No I can't see anything wrong with your reasoning, I just find it strange that they are offering more than they have to, I've been locked up in the Jet2 thread for far too long, being my synical self, I thought they may be trying to pay you less than you were due.

    Fantastic result

Could be all down to excahnge rate variation. £ has gone up considerably past 2 weeks which would explain difference betwwen £898 and £916.
Currenty 1.34 to £ so Euro447 per person.
