  • In the list of options I was given it says, if your flight is cancelled with no rebooking alternative and you wish to pursue travel to your final destination, air France will refund transportation cost within limit of 250 Euros in place of a ticket refund.
I suppose I should start with my insurers and go from there....
  • Help, ive made a complaint against Air France after we were delayed by 32 hours.
They have offered us £170 to cover the money we took out to feed ourselves. we were left to sleep on floor over night as they had no hotel available, our suitcase was damaged and we were left in a queue for 7 hours with out access to drinking water, and many more issues.
Is this amount of £170 correct for compensation? im not that happy with it and would like help to take it further but dont know who to go to or what im exactally entitled to
( first time on forum sorry if its too long)

  • Thank you, I have read both articles you have recommended. FAQ very helpful

The KML/AF article confused me slightly, I have spent alot of time lately reading the rule around compensation for delayed flights and just seem to be confusing myself even more

can any one recommend someone who I can go to for help, there seems to be alot of solictors offering no win no fee claims, im happy to do it myself rather than go through a solictor but could do with advice on if ive got a case to follow or if i should just take the £170

What was the reason you were given for the delay?
  • My party of seven were delayed by over 2 days on a flight from Newcastle to Johannesburg I have just received compensation of 4 x 800 Euros in travel vouchers and 3 x 600 Euros in cash from Air France. I used the template recommended on this site and attached it to the complaints form on the Air France web site. I received 3 rejections of my claim from Air France on all occasions they said the flight was delayed due to extraordinary circumstances, each time I asked them to explain what the circumstances were which they never answered and then I finally received a e-mail apologising for the delay and offering the above compensation once I confirmed that I was happy to accept the compensation it took 2 weeks for everyone in my party to receive compensation.

Sorry if I'm being thick but why were there two different rates paid and why some in vouchers and some cash? You are aware that you are not obliged to accept vouchers. Did they just offer more than the cash value to those who would accept vouchers?

You should be entitled to 600 Euros per passenger for this. Log onto the website and go to the contact us \ make a claim section

    Hello,

Thanks for your reply.I already sent mail to KLM for claim status. Its been 10days now but there is no response from them yet.Could you please advice on this?

    thanks in advance
  • Given that the restrictive nature of the vouchers was not explained to you before you accepted them, I believe you are within your rights to now reject the vouchers and demand that you be compensated in cash in line with 261/2004 obligations on the airline.
As I've already used more than the original 600 Euros originally offered, it won't be worth the waste of breath asking for the cash! My reason for posting was to dissuade others from accepting the vouchers. Incidently, it's now 5 weeks since I posted the voucher and still no sight or sound of the re-issued credit.....
  • a good new story

Initially complained to klm on 15th sept regarding trip from Bucharest to Edinburgh 11 hour delay reaching Edinburgh..waited 8 weeks on a reply however KLM called this evening and offered £340 for each passenger without any hesitation greatfully acccepted...
