Huge thank you to OP, Martin and everyone on MSE. Used the template letters, sent all relevant docs. to Virgin Atlantic in June. In September advised on hold pending outcome of court cases. Read Martin's update and was about to send a letter to 'nudge' VA today but no need! So far 2 out of 3 of us received cheques for the full amount today (trusting that OH's cheque is in the post! Thank you! Still wouldn't want to travel with VA again - their handling of the delay left a lot to be desired.
Happy to post a copy of the letter but can't see a way of doing so.

Hi, can anyone please let me know whether your claim accepted for the flight VS17 on 9th December 2010. Last Tuesday I sent for the compensation form but didn't get any reply yet. Originally my flight was cancelled and had to travel next day. So please let me know if anyone applied for that particular flight vs17 2010.0

you probably want to start by reading Vaubans guide in the FAQs
It makes no difference if others have been paid out or rejected. Your claim is your claim. This thread will give you an idea on how long to wait for a response...I would expect about 4 weeks maybe
Whether there is compensation would depend on the reason for the delay (one of the NWNF sites shows no compensation due for that flight/date - are your details correct?)0 -

our flight vs75 to orlando was delayed 5 hours due to fault with refuelling on 28th december 2013 from manchester. we tried to claim and were turned down. We then went to a no win no fee solicitors, and today everyone in the group recieved £330.00. who hoo0

just got 600 euros from virgin for a 24 hour delay - Las Vegas to Gatwick in March 2009 !0

Thanks for your reply. Yes my details is correct. Our schedule flight was on vs 17 9th December 2010 evening but flight cancelled. Virgin provided hotel and free transfer. May be after 12 to 15 hours later we started journey towards newyork. I checked my application status. They said complaints logged in and after 4 to 6 weeks they will let me know decision. I asked them why the flight was cancelled, they said it is due to technical problem. So is there anything more you can advise me. Looking forward to hearing from you0
