  • Should have known that anything associated with Branson was going to land me in a pickle.
Virgin Trains are fine with me and provide decent service but I have always suspected that some Branson companies were not what they appear to be.
Virgin Records was formed years ago after he had been caught running an import tax scam according to his own book - nothing to be proud of.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer regarding Virgin Atlantic delay compensation.
Briefly we claimed for a 9 hour delay on flight VS75 from Manchester to Orlando in September 2008. The claim was rejected due to a technical fault but we asked again after the recent court ruling.
VA responded saying they were considering their position and it could take 2 months. They then wrote saying it could be 12 months due to appeals etc but they would let us know.
Today I received a letter saying that unless I had started court proceedings before 20.9.2014 my claim was now out of time as 6 years had passed.
What else could I do as I was in their hands awaiting their decision and now they say I no longer have a claim. Are they correct or is there still something I can do? Thanks
As 111KAB says, they have quite deliberately strung you along until you are out of time to make a legal claim. This is a disingenuous, contemptible and possibly mendacious policy by Virgin

Could anyone help with my letter on page 72? I'm not sure what to do, do I go back and ask them to sort it? I've just been fobbed off really..

    go back and sort what?
The answer was given in post #1431 - take them to court but be aware many of the cases are being stayed awaiting the outcome of the Huzar appeal (and if Jet2 wins appeal there will be no compensation for technical delays)
  • Virgin Atlantic have just paid me the full amount (600 Euros) for an overnight delay from Heathrow to Nairobi in March 2010 due to technical (electrical) problems. I used the template provided on the site but they insisted on the form available on their website being completed. As my return journey in 2010 was delayed for a week due to the Icelandic volcano, I do feel I was due some form of compensation for that return trip, and am really pleased that I spotted the advice on MoneySavingExpert. It took about half an hour of my time and 2 stamps! Thanks a lot!

Hello, I've looked elsewhere on the site for an answer to my query without success, so hope someone will have an answer for me.
My flight from Bridgetown Barbados to 28th June this year (2014) was cancelled/delayed for a full 24 hours. I had checked in online prior to leaving my accommodation but on arrival at the airport was informed that the flight would be delayed by 24hours. Virgin put us all up in hotels - in my case a crummy one, but at least they took responsibility) we were fed and watered and next day were picked up and returned to the airport (at 1.00pm for a 5.10 departure so lots of wasted time sitting around in airport). We were all given extra air miles and I was happy with this and wouldn't bother to make a claim for compensation on this basis...until I checked how far I could get for my air-miles and I wouldn't even be able to get from my home in London to Manchester! The question I have is having accepted the air miles or air rewards as Virgin terms it, can still lodge a claim for compensation for my cancelled/delayed flight. According to Virgin the fault was due to the aeroplane needing a new engine or engine part.

As long as your "rewards" didn't come with strings attached, you can make a proper claim for useful money, not useless rewards.

Hi can someone please provide a link to these FAQ's as people say they are on page one of each airline thread but all I see is the link to the MSE article, which I have read.
