Letter Before Action
Sometimes referred to as a NBA (Notice before action)
Basically you say you don't accept their explanations and that you give them 14 days to settle or else you put them on notice that you will be at liberty to commence court action blah blah blah as per the templates in the FAQ's.
Use MCOL and there's very limited fees (costs) involved. All explained on the website if you click on the link in the FAQ's.0 -

Right, so I have found the MCOL link, and a leaflet: EX50, which details fees. Unfortunately, it isn't very self explanatory. It says to start a claim online, using MCOL, there's a charge of £60, but I'm not sure how those fees escalate - if at all they do - from there. I assume, if the court settles in your favour, the fees are settled by the airline?
I cannot seem to find an LBA template, could you possibly point me in the correct direction?0 -
I'm pretty sure that the charges are explained on the MCOL website, you might just have to dig deeper. Yes you can claim back the court costs (+ interest) if/when you win.
The template letter is here:

My experience with claiming EU compensation from Easyjet turned out to be very positive.
I sent them a very brief email on 14 February, requesting EUR250 for my Amsterdam-Liverpool flight on 27 December 2009 that got cancelled due to technical reasons.
I just got an email today confirming that they will be paying the compensation and requesting my payment details. Yay!
I didn't even have to quote any EC court rulings, just mentioned that as I work for an airline myself (which I do, it wasn't a lie!), I am fully aware of all the relevant rulings!0 -
For those that have used the web form, how long is it taking to get a response? Has anyone had success through the web form or is it better to send by post? It seems the web forms are dealt with by India whereas post would be the English part of their CS department?0

I used the web form to submit my claim. Sent it in on 14 February and got a confirmation of the compensation payment on 19 February, so very quickly.0 -
Hi
I would like to know if you claim for the length of the flight or the length of the delay?
We were delayed for 6.5hrs so surely this would be the highest compensation but the flight length is only 1220km which would be the lowest compensation claim?! HELP please.
Also as this was back in October 2010 we no longer have tickets/boarding passes.
My mum may well have proof of purchase in the form of credit card statement.
Response much appreciated0 -

Both factors count, ie length of flight and length of delay. Have you cross checked against the table in the MSE article?

You don't need tickets or boarding passes. But a booking reference number would help.
This isn't a simple letter writing exercise. You'll need to put in some homework and read up on things and find out stuff to help your claim.0 -
I can confirm that it was indeed a technical reason due to which the flight was delayed. Please be advised that the information that I have in my system shows that the flight was delayed due to the Electric Hydraulic Pump overheating and I am sorry to inform you that we will be unable to provide any further information regarding the delay as we as an agent do not have an access to our Engineers report. Your understanding in this regards would be much appreciated.
With regards to my comment, I wish to confirm that at the time of any disruption, it is always the usual case, that the disruption occurs at the last moment which happens to be too late to inform all the passengers about the same. Usually, we always endeavour to provide a notice of disruption 14 days prior to the departure date, however at times, due to unexpected disruption, this normally happens.
I really apologise for the inconvenience caused to you and I truly hope that this unfortunate experience will not deter you from using our services again in the future.
Yours sincerely0 -

Thanks for that, yes i have read up on the link but was unsure.
I have used the template letter as suggested in the article, i have the flight number etc, just struggling to find booking ref etc. I did not book this it was booked by my mum and sister who are not computer savvy and when asked if they have kept any of the emails i got a blank response! I have asked my mum to request a statement from her bank for proof of purchase as she paid for them with a credit card, do you think this will be enough?0
