I think that you will struggle with this. Your claim would, in my view, depend upon how a court reads the Eglitis judgement. Given the chaos that the weather created in Gatwick, I can see a judge being sympathetic to an airline's case.

Gatwick airport is offering £100 in shopping vouchers for those that had cancelled flights on Xmas eve but nothing mentioned for delays

After initially ignoring various correspondence and then denying liability, Easyjet have finally agreed to pay me compensation for a flight from Tenerife to Manchester on 9th July 2013. Persistence pays. HTH somebody and thanks to all who post advice on this thread.
    Hope is not a strategy.

I was caught up in the same chaos at Gatwick. I understand that many of the flights were later than anticipated as the baggage handlers just lumped all the baggage together, so that it was nigh on impossible for the airlines to sort out which bags were going where. We were told this by the captain of the Thompson flight. We should have taken off around 11.30, but due to the baggage issue we couldnt take off until halfway through the afternoon, and ended up having to go to Fuerteventura (we were going to Cape Verde).

Total chaos, and they blame the weather....

It's England, it rains, what's extraordinary?
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • I have gone through Easyjet CAA and sent letter to AESA who says I should get compensation but when I contact easy jet they just send the same response-no compensation - what can I do?

Read FAQ's on Page One then off to court.

Thought I remembered this! I gave you the same response on 13.12.13 - post #802 - perhaps my advise wasn't what you wanted to hear so perhaps someone else will give you an alternative ..... maybe walk away and forget it?

Sound advice above, you need to decide if it's court or drop it.

I hope you choose court, if you do read the FAQ's.

Is it accepted by easyJet that a delay (3½ hours) caused by bad weather on a previous flight is grounds for compensation?

I have read that there was a 'non-binding' court case some months ago.

Impossible to say - trying claiming and see what they write in reply!
