Hi everyone. So we are currently going through the process with Easyjet, we had a flight delayed nearly 5 hours coming back from Zante this summer.

Easyjet admitted fault and said they would send out cheques within 30 days, seven weeks went by when we contacted them again to say we hadn't received them yet when we had this reply...

    Thank you for your email.

I am very sorry that you have not received your compensation cheques yet. Regrettably the cheques are on hold as we have not received consent from the booker (James Franklin). As per Article 3.1.4 of our Terms and Conditions the booker is responsible for receiving and making all payments in the booking; this is why our Authorisation Team have placed your case on hold.

I have sent an email to James to request his consent and I will be in touch as soon as I have heard back from him.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

That was two weeks ago and we still haven't heard anything, we bought it through a company advertising on teletext so that is who this James chap is.

I was wondering what our next move should be from here?

    Many thanks.

Compensation is payable to the passenger, not the person who books or pays for it. See Jet2 thread about compensation cheques.

skea - think it too close to call - use one of the NWNF free services to find out what they think - if they believe there is a case then perhaps use a NWNF (and lose a bit) as otherwise you may be in for a 'battle'.

whereas Bott&co state claim for €250!

Took your advice and contacted Bott and Co, who have come back to me this morning agreeing to take case on.

Excuse my ignorance, but having never had to secure the services of a solicitor, (Free or Paid) i'm not sure what the protocol is - simply sign the T & C's and that's it?

skea56 - yes ensure you are happy with T&C's and if happy leave it to them after signing. At the end of the day however remember they are taking a good slice of your payment so don't be afraid to contact them from time to time for progress reports.

Thanks, had a long read through the T & C's last night, bit confusing at times reference payment, but think it boils down to €25 + 27% so about £100 for each passenger. Will an eye on them to ensure I get regular progress reports, and will report back here with the result.

Thanks to everyone for their help - this thread makes a very interesting read

Is the Jet2 compensation cheque thread on here? Is it a test case?

    I do appreciate your help.

  • Evening all

I've read the guide and written the letter requesting compensation.

Ej have written back to state that the delay was due to a bird strike so not their problem.

I was reading recently that a judge ruled that a bird strike for an airline was commonplace and could not be used as a Get out clause.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

    Thanks
