Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Easyjet ONLY

Yeah, what the get out argument is, is that the 'close by destination' is in fact the alternative airport!
A bit more ping pong required I think, although I'm not sure they'll stump up the full cost of car hire if there's a more cheaply available transfer method to hand.0 -
erm Southend and Luton are hardly "close".....If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Another success and I have to say Easyjet were the easiest to deal with.
Flight EZY5058 Montpellier to Gatwick May last year. We were delayed by just over 3 hours. Made an immediate claim but rejected with the 'technical fault' defence. Following the Jet2 ruling I emailed again and within hours they responded with a positive. I did have to get signatures from all travellers that they were happy for me to be paid but once that was sent they credited my account immediately.
Thanks for all the help and guidance, but mostly for the motivation to keep persevering!
Been in the process of claiming compensation and they've agreed to pay. Emailed asking for last 4 digits and a contact number, did this.
When they rang, they asked some questions, and then asked for 16-digit-card number, name on card, and then 3 digit security code; which I did not give as I thought it sounded dodgy: surely they don't need this to SEND a payment, and only require sort-code and account number?
Told them I will contact them back after I confirm this isn't dodgy. For anyone that has claimed (or would know), what details are safe to give?

Depends on what method they are using, if they are using a BACS or Faster Payment they will only need the sort code and account number, if they are making a credit to your card they will need card details......
What I would do is take the name of the person calling you, then get a googled number for EasyJet then call them back from a different phone if you want to be 100% sure .

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah asked for a number to call back on, and they gave 03303655000 which is an easyJet number apparently...
Gave them a ring and they said they'll call me back soon, didn't know any sort of way of sending money would require card details.0 -
Yet another email stating we do not have the information regarding this flight so have just issued NBA! fingers crossed this shifts them0

I went through this same conversation with easyJet. They said that it would take much longer using bank account number and sort code due to their internal systems. As it was clear to me that the person calling knew enough about my claim I gave him my card details and sure enough the funds arrived in my bank account. Does seem an odd way of doing things but I can confirm it is what they do.0 -
Had claimed for a 3 1/4 hr delay back in Sept 2013. Initially turned down as extra-ordinary. Contacted Easyjet again following the court cases last Autumn, was told the case was with some support team or other.
Left it until last week when I sent them a reminder, after reading through this thread, received a reply that the case was decided in my favour and ,as in previous posts, could I mail them the card 4 digits and a convenient time for them to phone me. Did so and in the phone call was told the money would be paid within 20 days. So a satisfactory outcome in the end (although I'd rather the flight had just arrived on time) , but credit to MSE and some of the forumites on here for not letting it lie.0 -
After sending a NBA to the CEO (via Customer Service) claiming for the €250 plus transferring costs back to Southend, recieved phone call from the CEO's office fully accepting our claim. Compensation was in the bank today. Thanks for all your help on this.0
