Hi,
We were due to fly back from Dalaman on Sept 28th at 10.20pm. We finally flew at 4.30pm the following day.
In between time Jet2 did there level best to make an inconvenience into a nightmare..
The first 'official' info was given at 1am, when aabout 40 letters wer split between the 230 passengers. At no time did a Jet2 rep show there face. No refresehment vouchers were handed out on the evening.
We were told we HAD to leave the airport on coaches for Marmaris for hotel accommodation. Even though we said we wanted to stay at the airport we were told the police said we had to leave and that we had no choice. We arrived at a hotel a 5.30 AM. We rejected our hotel room as it was disgustingly dirty and had a 2 inch cockroach sat on the settee. We were bussed back to the airport at 12pm arriving at 2 pm. There were lots of other incompetent decisions that were made.
But, to get to the point,
1) Apparently when the plane was landing, they landed it too heavy and damaged the plane. Would this be considered as extraordinary circumstances? Sounds like pilot error to me!!
2) They have said that they will reimburse the cost of a single flight - should we be asking for compensation in addition to this refund?
3) Should we give them chapter and verse on how badly they handled the situation or is it not worth the effort. I note that Jet2 have a very low percentage of cases that they have paid out on so far.0 -
got an update from Bott & Co
We have now received confirmation from the Court that formal Court Proceedings have been issued. The Proceedings have been served on the airline and they are obliged to acknowledge receipt of those Proceedings within 14 days and then provide a formal written Defence within a further 14 days.0 -

Whoa there Kuepper. I too received that same email off Bott & Co... on the 15th July
Jet2 submitted their defence (you guessed it - 28 days later)
Bott & Co are still awaiting directions off the court. There is nothing can be done to hurry it up, you'll just have to lie back and wait i'm afraid.0 -
I travelled last year on Jet Airways from LHR-AMRITSAR with a connection in Delhi. Connections was delayed by 5 hours and received no compensation. I wrote to the airline recently learning about compensation, they said it was due to bad weather, which was not correct and claimed under the Rugulation 261/2004. I have also writtine to the CAA who have long delays, should I take them to court as the airline is saying that it was in Indian not London delayed, so local laws apply and I cannot get compensation?? Any assistance would be appreciated .. not sure weather it is worth taking them to court?

Court sounds like the best option.
All the case law states that it is the delay at final destination that counts, providing you were ticketed LHR-DEL-ATQ, ATQ was your final destination.
Your flight departed from a UK airport, and reached it's final destination more than three hours late, providing extraordinary circumstances can't be proved you have a right under the regulation for compensation.
Be aware that some on this forum have the opinion that where the delay occurred is a factor, despite there being nothing in either the regulation or case law to support that view.0 -

I was delayed London-Bangkok for 7 hours, due a problem with a navigation system. This caused me many problems, as I missed a conference on 3rd world orthodontics. Does anyone have good contact for Jet Airways? I have tried the CAA, but they say they cannot help.:(0
