I got my compensation through a letter writing exercise Jet2fan
So no court for me.
But if I had reached impasse with the airline, I would have gone to court.
What do YOU suggest the correct advice is to the poster that I offered 'duff advice' to should be?
The court success thread doesn't appear to support your argument btw, although on the rest, we're not a million miles away from each others stance.0 -

Flight in January was delayed over 5 hours. Jet2 won't pay. CAA won't answer letters. Any advice on what to do now?0

I would read the thread from page 1, takes time, but SO worth it.
Then NBA and go to court. If you don't feel you want to do it alone. It's no win no feeLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -

Right, i’ll spell this out in simple English so it’s easy to understand.
My “duff advice” comment is ONLY relating to Jet2, they are the only airline i have been following with any detail, therefore, i am able to comment on.
Monarch, BA, Easyjet, Ryanair, UncleTomCobblyAndAllAir and all other airlines, yes, i would advise “fire off an MCOL”... They will most probably pay out (before it gets to court) See court successes thread.
I have not seen evidence of ONE win against Jet 2. Not one penny paid out from Jet 2 to ANYONE... EVER. (both in court, or folding before it gets there.)
Jet 2 are a special case.... They will fight us ALL the way.
My advice is that in issuing court proceedings against Jet 2, in doing it yourself, it is not a trivial matter to be taken lightly and that you will have to do hundreds of hours of research, undertake a lot of stress and (at some point) don your suit and be ready to go in front of a Judge. And you may lose.
Post #405 (Page 21) Centipede... “Time for a NBA and then a legal claim.”
Post #348 (Page 18) Mark2Spark… “It doesn't matter, as soon as you have a reply that denies your claim you're free to start court action! So do it!”
What I am saying is this, Jet 2 (at the moment) are unique and just by writing “fire off an MCOL“ you are not preparing people for the massive amount of work and the shear bloody mindedness which you will come up against. Jet2 are prepared to cut off their noses to spite their faces in dealing with us, suffer phyric victories and use masses of legal and technical jargon and knowledge to beat us. They (along with 2 Birds) will manipulate / bamboozle and hoodwink a judge into THEIR interpretation of 261/2004 and Wallatin and as they will look the most professional outfit and that (I FEAR) will win in that particular arena. (a courtroom.)
“The court success thread doesn't appear to support your argument btw”….
Yes I does, 100% (Not one win against Jet 2 is in the court successes thread. NOT ONE)
In fact, the only defeat we have down in the Court Failiures Thread is a Jet2 one.
So far……… Jet2 1 / Us 00 -
Hi all, after reading the last post I'm thinking that I hold just give in to jet 2 and back down. I originally got a denied claim for comp saying that t was more than 2 years ago (oct 2008) so they would not consider my claim. I was delayed 3.10 hours I know the fault was due to a technical fault with their plane as a friends husband is an engineer for jet 2. We had to wait for a different plane to arrive. I contested their decision after speaking to CAA who said to fight it or speak to the Spanish authorities. I have just received a second letter denying my claim again using the 2 yer rules and now saying that the technical fault was an extraordinary circumstance which could not have been foreseen and beyond jet 2 control.
Any help or advice would be welcomed?
