If reghedeg had gone back to Man but via train, I believe Jet2 should have refunded costs as the regs state you can make alternative arrangements convenient to you.
Reg could have bought tickets to Man kept receipt for submission, then got tickets Manchester to Yorkshire. Split tickets often cheaper tooIf you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Compensation for late arrival when a passenger accepts a flight to an airport alternative to that for which the booking was made
Compensation is due in such a case. The time of arrival to be used for calculating the delay is the actual time of arrival at the airport for which the booking was originally made or another close-by destination agreed with the passenger in accordance with Article 8(3) of the Regulation. Costs incurred for the transport between the alternative airport and the airport for which the booking was originally made or another close-by destination agreed with the passenger should be borne by the operating air carrier.

Hi,
I have an issue that has JUST come up.
My Jet Airways flight tomorrow at 09.30 from LHR to BOM is being cancelled. An alternative has been offered - (Etihad Airways) indirect, less baggage allowance and landing over 8 hours later.
I have seen other flights - Virgin Atlantic - direct and leaving at 09.30, but with less baggage allowance.
I have requested the Virgin Atlantic flight, citing that the costs that will occur if I take the Etihad flight are unreasonable. Do I have legal grounds to pursue this?
Thank you.0 -

Yes, most likely. EU261 says that rerouting should be under "comparable conditions". The regulations themselves do not specify what this entails exactly but the interpretative guidelines published recommend that reasonable efforts are made to avoid an extra connection and to ensure that travel times remain similar. Have a look at 4.2 in the link below:

Thank you... I will ensure that I remind the travel agent of this regulation
I have only gone and created another thread so if you come across it, I'm sorry...0 -
Despite three emails categorically declining the Etihad flight and requesting the Virgin Atlantic one, I have now received a ticket for the Etihad flight.
What do I do??0 -
Are there actually any seats on the Virgin flight?
You may need to book these yourself (and pay for) then reclaim the difference from the airline, under regulation 261/2004.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
