Flight did take off. From looking / zooming in on the link I provide it flew to southern Ireland, before heading back and then circling and then landing.
I hope this makes sense.
Why was the plane called back? Because there was debris on the runway in Lanazarote?0 -
Because there was debris on the runway in Lanazarote?
I read it as debris were spotted on the runway at Leeds after this flight had departed0 -

The information about the debris (and the rest, eg crew change over) is purely what my parents were verbally told.
Finally, thank you for the replies. I am mad busy with work at the moment as I am going to Berlin on Sunday for a week, but if I can help my parents out in any way then I will.0 -
Hi,
I wonder if I am entitled to any compensation from Jet 2?
My wife and I flew from Belfast International to Murcia on 14th April due to leave Belfast at 1510.
The flight actually left after a delay on the incoming flight at 1700.
As there was a runway refurb on Jet2 would not fly from the main runway but used the short runway. This meant that we had to refuel at Manchester Airport enroute to Murcia.
This was not told to us until we were on board the aircraft.
After refuelling at Manchester we eventually landed at Murcia at approx 2200.
How would I go about compensation if you think QI would be entitled.
Thanks0 -
Was the longer runway in use by other flights? There have been issues with Jet 2 a Aldergrove before0

Seldom, I wonder why they considered it "safe" or safer to fly to ireland and back and land in LBA than continue onto Portugal.
The cynic in me would suggest that returning to Leeds would be cheaper as its their home base with engineers possibly available, if needed.
Sod the inconvenience to the passengers on that flight, or the delayed flight coming back.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

That is the point it would be classed as the nearest suitable airport to do any repair needed as it is their base. (and might even have an available spare aircraft)(it certainly had available crew)
A diversion elsewhere would not guarantee any of those as would a continuation to destination where if the problem was serious could see the aircraft grounded for some time waiting repair.
So it was probably more in the interest of the passengers to do what they did!!0 -
I've found Jet2 especially unhelpful on this.
Briefly party of 6 on Manchester to Faro (Portugal) flight in 2010.
Take off delayed 6 hours.
Used template letter, distance calculator etc & wrote to them, quoting passenger names, flight numbers etc.
They wrote back saying I needed to supply proof I flew with them -eg boarding cards - ha! who keeps those? But was able to log into Jet2 account and reprint them.
They also asked for names, flight numbers, dates, etc..... all the stuff I'd already supplied. Talk about trying to make life difficult. But I humoured them and sent it all in again.
Anyway, today, disappointed to say got a *!%%$£* off letter saying a 2010 flight is outside the time period for such claims. Wheras Martin's article says you can claim back to 2005 I think.0 -

That was their response to my NBA letter. Off to sort out a legal claim then!0 -
