Thank you for your reply. It was 4th October 2009, we were returning from a wedding. I don't have any written proof that we were on the flight, but I have written to Jet2 anyway. Thanks again.0

I was on a flight from Malaga to Leeds that's was delayed by 6 hours.
I emailed jet2 for the full reasons of the delay(originally told due to fog the previous day in Leeds our plane had to go to Manchester which caused problems the day after) I got initial response saying I would get a reply in 28 days...which I didn't! so I've made a claim using the template.
The problem I have is , we were due to be on a large plane but as one wasn't available 2 smaller ones were sent. The original flight number was LS186 ,which was also the number of the first plane to leave..however we were on the second which was LS186a and doesn't show on flight stats.. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place, ours was an hour later than the first. Is this likely to cause problems?
Quoting myself after various correspondence between myself and jet2( which to be honest they have always responded daily quickly.. Apart from the first)
Today I have received the letter in reply to me asking them for the specific EC they were claiming.
"Please be assured we have investigated your claim thoroughly on an individual basis and I can confirm that the delay was caused by Exceptional conditions incompatible with the operation of the flight, more specifically low level fog at Leeds Bradford which resulted in the aircraft being diverted to Manchester" etc etc
This however was the day before my flight and my flight was delayed as the aircraft was in a different location thus IMO causing a knock on effect which affected my flight.
I am willing to take this further, so do you think I have a good claim?
Thanks and good luck to everyone. Am thinking of a new one:beer:0 -
It also shows the limitation of Flightstats and other sites, they only deal with scheduled flights, where this instance occurs the second (or third) flight is un-scheduled and will have a different flight number (for ATC purposes it will be totally different).
These will not show on Flightstats0 -
When we arrived at Malaga airport we given the letter stating 3 hour delay due to operational reasons and that there would be 2 planes replacing the original one plane.. We were on the second.. They were due to take off about the same time but ours was delayed a further hour.. So both flights were delayed by well over 3 hours.. Ours was 5 hours. We did get an €8 euro voucher each ! Am thinking of a new one:beer:0

My daughter and I were due to fly back from Barcelona to Manchester at 3.45 p.m. on 16th July 2010. There were problems with the aircraft and after a long wait we boarded but the aircraft made a strange noise whilst taxying so the flight was aborted. Much later, when it had been suggested that we might have to stay overnight, we were issued with a bulletin from Jet.2 advising of technical difficulty with expected delay of app. 4hrs.15mins. Eventually another aircraft was flown in to take us back to Manchester. We arrived in Manchester sometime after midnight, and even allowing for the hour's difference in time, I think the delay was over five hours.
I sent a letter on 3rd April to Jet.2 setting all this out, and enclosing copies of our official return flight details, my boarding pass (my daughter's had not been saved) and a copy of Jet.2's bulletin (dated).
They replied on 12th April that all claims of this nature must be made no later than 2 years from the date of the incident occurring according to English law.
Is this true? If not, what is my next step, please?0 -
Okay, I clearly don't have the time or experise to carry on with this. Can anyone please recommend a good company which can take on Jet2 for me? x0

As the companies have generally only sprung up in the last month or two I doubt anyone is able to recommend one of them.
It's a case of make your own choice and ultimately pay your money0 -
