For those of you that remember, I'm in the process of claiming against Jet2 for a delayed flight from Thessaloniki to Manchester last June. I've avoided posting publicly for obvious reasons. Tyzap and NoviceAngel are up to speed and have been so helpful.
My hearing date is set for 15th June in Leeds and my case is, I believe, being heard with others relating to the same flight. I'm in the process of beginning to construct my witness statement and am using Vauban's superb guide, but I must say I feel quite overwhelmed!
I’m planning to be there, I always try to turn up unlike Jet2 lol.
I believe Botts have a few clients on that flight, and if it’s like the Allen case, you won’t have to say or do a thing, the DJ will just ask you if you have anything to add, probably not if QC’s are involved but if you feel brave give em hell, all the best of luck in the world.

If I could, I would be there to slap Les Deux oiseux. But alas my appointment book is rammed. The cocky little .#&@# needs bringing down a peg or two.
All the best, but I suspect you won't need it.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

You might have got your wish, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Deux oiseux doesn't work for Jet2 now - perhaps they got the sack because TB kept losing cases ?!?
Norton Rose Fulbright are now favoured - someone have a go at translating that to French for me.
EDIT - is it said and spelt the same in French, but just said with a French accent ? You can tell why I just wanted to come home - to my shame I can't understand a word of it!
Okay now a DOUBLE EDIT because someone far smarter than me has just pointed out that NRF are mentioned in the Blanche Judgment - takes me a while but the penny is finally dropping and it's not TBs wayAfter reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Came back from Rome to Manchester on 22 May on Jet2 flight LS792. Flight delayed by approx 6 hours and 25 minutes.
Cause was that Rome airbridge operator had damaged aircraft door while putting airbridge into place for inbound flight. This couldn't be fixed so a new aircraft had to be flown over from UK.
The initially quoted delay was going to be 4 hours but I believe that French air traffic control strike that day meant it was ultimately longer. This point is not relevant to the claim although as an aside it was a bit cheeky to receive a text from Jet2 later that evening apologising for delay "due to the French air traffic control strike".
I haven't had a response yet to my claim but I am anticipating that they will argue it was totally outside their control and therefore an extraordinary circumstance. I'd be interested in readers' thoughts. Yes, it is outside their control but then so is a technical fault caused by a faulty component during flight. The purpose of the regulation is to compensate passengers for the inability of airlines to counter technical faults by having and deploying assets (eg standby aircraft) located nearby which could minimise delay. In this regard I am not sure what the difference is between an on-board technical fault and one caused in this way.0 -
If Jet2 have to pay out, they will have a contribution claim against the airport so don't lose any sleep over it.0

We were on the same flight as you so it'll be interesting to see how you get on with a claim, I'm guessing because they've given the official reason as the strikes then that'll be that.
Even the pilot said it was down to technical faults but I don't think anyone recorded it0 -
Interesting one. You would have still been more than 3 hours delayed had the strikes not happened. It seems they are attempting to pin the delay on a later event that simply delayed the flight, for which you were already owed compensation, even further.
If you!!!8217;ve read up the thread, I!!!8217;m in the process of litigating against Jet2. Court hearing is very soon.
My experience is that if Jet2 think they can fight it, they will.0 -
I really need to read the thread, that legalmagpie mentioned, on apostrophes!0
